We finally went to the Dor-Stop after being in the area for 10 years. I always seemed to hear good things about their breakfasts but never found the time to go because of their wait being out the door since it’s so small. We finally got to go today. Walked in, put our name on the list and was told it would be about 20 minutes. We left to kill time, just around the block. We got back around 10 minutes later. I waked over to tell them that I was back and to get an estimate of how much longer it would take. They rudely responded, “we called your name out multiple times. You’ll have to wait.” (Mind you, we were 10 minutes earlier than what they originally gave us at 20 minutes) - a few minutes later, a two top and a booth that fit 4 got up around the same time. Another booth right next to it was about to get up as well. They said, “okay we can seat you.” I nicely mentioned the booth that I brought up earlier and if we could still have one. They said, “No, there’s a customer of 3 that are getting that.” I said, “okay, there’s another one about to be ready. We’ve been on the list for a while now and you’re not busy anymore.” They again said “no, sorry. Booths are for three or more.” So we got sat at a small table for two with waitresses, children, customers, etc all around the table, accidentally bumping into it and us. That second booth got sat a couple minutes later with only 2 people. Another booth later, same thing. I understand needing to nicely make that call if they were on an hour wait but there wasn’t a wait at that point. Being a hostess when I was younger at a few restaurants, I would have never treated customers rude and unappreciated like they did. I will say that the food was decent but definitely not worth coming back because of the service...
Read moreMe and my friends decided to go out to a cute little diner. We were cruising down Potomac avenue when we saw the dor-stop diner. We decided to go in. When we walked in there was cute little wooden booths and tables. We were put in a little booth. As the waitress took our drinks we were excited as we heard many positive things about this place. People really hype this place up. But we were sorely mistaken. I will go order by order. My one youngest friend ordered the egg combo with bacon, scrambled eggs, and chocolate chip pancakes. Her bacon was RAW. Her Eggs were BLAND. Her pancakes were HARD. She rated her order a 1.275/10. My other older friend got the meat lovers omelette with home fries and toast. Her omelette had no cheese. Her home fries were bland and plain with no salt or anything. Her toast was great. But how hard can it be to toast some bread and slap some butter on it. She rated her meal 3/10. FINALLY. I got the potato pancake breakfast. The potato pancakes were decent. The eggs I ordered were supposed to be over MEDIUM. Which means. Whites 100% cooked with yellow runny. NOOOO. They gave me RUNNY WHITE AND YELLOW EGGS. GROSS. And also my bacon was RAW!!! I rate it 0/10. The price for these disgusting meals was outrageous. WE PAYED 40 DOLLARS AND TIPPED 5!!!!!!!! It must be on Potomac avenue because they must have smoked pot before serving this foul food. We had to go get donuts after because we were all gagging from the food. DO NOT GO. Not to mention the streets were filled with people running a marathon. It gave me PTSD from running laps and passing out LAST WEEK!!!!!!! Nobody wants to see sweaty old men and women (some of them jiggly) run and torture their 10 year old kids by running. It was HORRID. DO NOT...
Read moreThis past sunday, my husband and I chose seats at the counter. we were quickly served our coffees and our orders taken imediately. service and food were fine for a busy weekend. but my issue lies within the kitchen for which we were in direct eye shot of. the cook closest to us wearing a hair net for his beard and a bandana did several things that left a bad taste in our mouths. was not wearing gloves, disgusting. checked his phone several times- extremely unsanitary. at one point, I watch him crack an egg then turn around and place a bun on a cooked burger. but the best was watching him eat food with bare hands while still cooking. this was all unfortuneate as we are long time customers and will most likely not be returning. too top things off, my husband stood at the register waiting to pay for several minutes while the man who I believe is the owner (in yellow dorstop shirt) sat at the counter scrolling through his phone, eating food. not until one of the extreamely busy servers passed the counter were we able to pay. we watched him sit there through the entirety of his meal while all of his employees ran around with their heads off. seems pretty useless to me. definitely miss...
