Tonight was our first trip to King Claw in Douglas. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is really big. The people that work there are overall nice, but at times they seem understaffed. There we're multiple times we had to wait several minutes on our server to either bring us something or to come back and check on us. The sides especially the vegetable medley and the potatoes are super salty and we're not good nor edible. We ended up leaving them on the table because they just were way oversalted. My boil was pretty good, but not the best I've had. The sweet potato fries were also good, as where the regular fries. The fish needed to be salted and seasoned more because multiple fried fish plates that we had just lackes flavor. The salmon was also pretty good, but it was a small portion and would have liked to have seen it a little bigger to have a better value. I would recommend that this restaurant do a few things that could improve it for many customers. One, add New England clam chowder to the menu. A good seafood restaurant should always have a good seafood soup or chowder. Second, you should have some form of appetizer like bread or hush puppies on the house to munch on while waiting on the food. The pricing justifies this and it would be an added plus that would probably get more people in the door that would be relatively an inexpensive addition. Lastly, improve server times on checking on the table. We had a really nice server, but I could tell she may have had a few too many tables at one time. Lastly, one of the sides was left off of one of the entrees at our table and it took over 15 minutes to get that side. That is way too long and should have received some form of comp for that especially considering we didn't eat the potatoes because they were way too salty and mushy. Would we return, possibly, but we would definitely order differently. however, it is nice to have a nice seafood option in Douglas when you get cravings for it. Also, their tap water does taste good and does not have a chlorinated or...
Read moreI was so disappointed. It took an hour to get seated. Okay- it was a Saturday night (6:45pm) but we were only a party of two. We were never asked if we would like to sit at the bar to reduce our wait time. After we were seated, We waited 15 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. Another 5 for teas. Another 15 after that for the one mixed drink that we ordered. We waited an hour from the time we were seated to the time we started getting our food. We didn’t order much! We asked for a salad as a started. We got a side salad instead in a bowl the size of a toddler bowl and had to pay $5 for that. Our order consisted of a king claw bag with a substitution of NO sausage add a crab cluster, side of rice and side of mixed vegetables. The bag came with the sausage. No rice and no veggies came. Took another 15 minutes to get that. We asked for it all to go because we had been there so long. The only condolences we were offered was a slice of cheesecake and a few apologies for the wait. I still left a tip. But my bill (without tip) was $87.48. And of course because we had to wait so long on the sides, our boil was cold before the sides even came out. I didn’t fuss or yell… I was so disappointed, I just wanted to leave. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is friendly. The food is okay but not as good as the price is high… and the wait is atrocious. Before we requested it to go- They didn’t bring us any plates with the food or the bucket for shells. I guess if you want to eat there… maybe try lunch time. My mother says...

From the moment we walked in, the cleanliness of the restaurant impressed us. It was meticulously maintained, making it hard to believe we were in Douglas, Georgia. The ambiance was inviting, setting the perfect stage for our meal.
Our waiter, Ashlei, truly made the evening unforgettable. As a former U.S. Army veteran, he brought a level of professionalism and attentiveness that we rarely encounter. His recommendations were spot on, and he made us feel valued and welcomed throughout our visit.
Now, let’s talk about the food! I ordered the Captain's Boil, and it was nothing short of incredible. The crab legs were the best I've ever had—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delight, and the portion size was generous.
Overall, King Claw exceeded our expectations in every way. With outstanding service from Ashlei and delicious food in a clean, comfortable setting, we can't wait to return. Highly recommend this spot to anyone...
