McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Downers Grove

I heard there was a new deli in Downers Grove, so we decided to give a try. Ordered the kids toasty, BLTA, chicken club, and the grilled chicken salad. Let’s start with the toasty. Description says “choice of cheese, ham or turkey”. We didn’t realize the cheese was included based on the description and our kid dislikes cheese. We ordered it plain with turkey. Got it home with cheese and it went into the trash. The BLTA was perfect! Lots of bacon and fresh avocado. No complaints here. The chicken club was described as “Mcalisters club with chicken in place of ham and turkey”. The Mcalisters club comes with wheat and what I got was what looked like a smashed croissant. I am dairy free so I didn’t/couldn’t eat it! Looking closer at the menu, I realized they gave me the grilled chicken sandwich instead. Not what I wanted and also explains why there was any bacon on my sandwich. Not happy! Lastly, the grilled chicken salad was fine, but my wife was looking for a piece of grilled chicken and not the strange sliced chicken it came with. Also had a side of broccoli that was very good. I work near downers so i was super excited when i heard mccalisters had opened a location more nearby than wheaton! My excitement lowered when i got into the parking lot because it was packed and the parking lot was tiny. I went to the restaurant on a Tuesday around 12:30pm.

I ordered a mccalisters club which I’ve gotten many times from the Wheaton location. The wrap was slightly grilled? Which was really odd to me because the sandwich doesn’t come grilled so I’m not sure if that was a mistake. They also didn’t put honey mustard on the wrap which is annoying because it literally comes with it on the menu! They also packed my pickle in the wrap so if i didn’t open it on a flat surface it would’ve fell, and it was messy, i wish they would’ve put it in a little baggy like the wheaton location does.

I love mccalisters and will go back but I probably won’t recommend...

Went there today, 1st time for me !I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar wrap, and my daughter ordered a chicken sandwich, with her specified condiments ! Took my first bite and it appeared very dry ! Apparently they forgot to put the caeser dressing on it !! It’s called “grilled chicken Caesar wrap “with caeser dressing” ! Had to go ask for the dressing. While I was standing at the counter waiting for my caeser dressing, there was a lot of goofing around where sandwiches were being made ! My daughter took a bite of her sandwich and said it was very spicy ! She realized they put “spicy” mustard on her sandwich (that she did not ask for), she just said “mustard”, not knowing there was spicy or regular mustard AND They never asked what kind of mustard she wanted !
