Las Palmitas Fruit — Restaurant in Downey

This is a two part review, first the local and the food. Las Palmitas in Downey is located in a shopping center with parking in the back, it is easily accessible . Honestly this business does not have a singe word in English on the menu , and I speak Spanish and I still found that to be a bit of a insult. Second the place is too crowded for its own good there is no official line so people pool around the cashier, the cashier has a horrid habit of interrupting you mid sentence to ask " anything else" in Spanish. Third the local has a B rating, and it shows as its a tad un kept and the cashier itself is above the freezer and the chips you get ( papitas) are pay first grab later and are unattended meaning any one could have handled your food, this is also around the cashier and a pain in the ass to get and just unsanitary period . Now on to the food : The food is great , from the amazing drinks raspados to the mouth melting tostilocos and there papitas (chips) are downright fantastic! . The only average food is basically the tortas (sandwitches) and the ice creem is garbage , children who ask for it probably cant tell the difference but any one with any sort of taste will tell you that ice cream is bad. Its the same stuff you could make at home , at least a person like me with zero culinary experience could scrap together, painfully average and overpriced. over all a 3.5/5 Pros good junk food ( and fruit!) for a great value Cons Sub par offerings in the menu . dirty .

Place is good but there prices are all wrong I looked at my recipt and was wondering why I got a charge of 7 dollars and it said a fresas con crema which from everyones knowledge and understanding it just Strawberries and cream yet I ordered a bionico. I asked the cashier why I was charged an extra 25 cents and she responded to me that because since I took off the papaya and the melon it's considered a Strawberries and cream and that thats how she's supposed to do it because they told her that way to do it. Every customer or person who reads this make sure you check your recipts because they are taking your money by even a little even with all how this economy I know ima get this look like it's just 25 cents but if your running a business you should stick to your prices and not change it just because people don't like other things with it. Very disappointed in this place and the owner who taught there workers this way because...

Don't waste your time and save your belly space for something better. Worst fruit place I have ever been to! Rude service from the cashier, the elote was very hard and tasted old, the strawberries and cream are only cut in half, the cream is not even good, its brownish and too sweet, and the cueritos (pork skins) on my tostilocos had a weird taste, were hard and brownish greyish, just old looking. What a waste of time and money. How can a place that specializes in this kinda of items make them soooooo bad??? Not to mention how dirty the counters were with sticky drips, food and, receipts. So many employees and not one can clean up to make it look decent. I wonder how their back of the house is...

Ana's Bionicos in Norwalk are way better and cleaner. Service a bit better but at least...
