Sutha Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Downey

Customer service is disgusting. I’ve been going to Sutha for over 5+ years already. I’ve loved & treasured this cuisine spot for its innovated and delicious food! After noticing the different staff/waiters (like the waitress) they have gotten so stingy, greedy with their portions, and have the audacity to request a tip obnoxiously. With all due respect I DO leave tips because they were very dear & helpful & attentive, but now it’s like they DEMAND a tip (tipping culture is out of control) I once had one waiter say “OH NO TIP?!?” When I was going to leave a cash tip lol. & their food portions have significantly gotten smaller & way more expensive, i understand this economy got more expensive, but if you’re going to charge more, don’t decrease the size/portion of your food. It’s counterintuitive. You aren’t getting food worth your money anymore, just go somewhere else. The Chinese Cusine spot in that same shopping center is delicious & they serve way more. I enjoyed my time here at Sutha, but unfortunately, it’s not worth it to come in here every so often how I used too. PLUS, THEY CLOSE ON RANDOM DAYS AND RANDOM HOURS. A restaurant takes ownership in being available with their delicious foods, but they seem like they CHOOSE when to serve and when to not lol, so random. Do not recommend this place at all. Came in from Phoenix n stopped to give it a try. Food is okay nothing special. Waitress lady seemed to have an attitude the minute we arrived. Figured maybe having a bad day not sure so let it slide. She served us everything was okay food was ehh. I got up to pay as my family was still eating. Sat back down kids n wife were still eating and lady comes over and demands a tip. Family still had lots of food left on plates we weren’t leaving any time soon. She assumed I wasn’t going to give her a tip so she demanded one. I asked her if she didn’t think that was rude to assume and demand a tip when we are still eating she said no. So she didn’t get a dime. Food is overpriced service is the same as a fast food place or equivalent and demanding a tip while still sitting at the table clearly still eating is ridiculous. I’m usually a big tipper but not today. If u eat here be ready to be hounded for extra buck. Maybe if the service and the courtesy was better she would’ve got a nice tip. A regular spot for me and my coworkers. Nice selection of lunch specials. Even to go, the lunch special was packaged with care, separately and in a way to protect the bag (fork was wrapped in a to go menu, which is nice double duty for protection and advertising), the food and the flavors. Even a couple hrs later, since the food was compartmentalized, the food was still like it was at the restaurant, the salad was package neatly with the dressing on the side (in a container). Crispy and fresh. Not like at other restaurants where, although they are in a divided to go container, the food spills over, and mixes flavors.
