Tempo Cantina — Restaurant in Downey

We came for happy hour we got seated at the restaurant 20 minutes before it ended. Right as we got sat we asked our server if we need to hurry and place our order in before happy hour ends? Our waiter told us No rush, happy hour is all night long. A few minutes later The manager was walking around checking on tables and to be on the safe side I also asked him about happy hour and he said take our time happy hour is all night long! 15 minutes has now passed and our server never came to take our order.. it’s now 4 minutes after the hour and a new server comes by and lets us know our waiter is on break and he will be taking over for her. We try to place our order and the new waiter tells us happy hour just ended. We are obviously confused now because the waiter that greeted us told us we have all night and also the manager stated we have all night. And also why would they seat us to a waiter who is going on break. We spent so much time looking around for our waiter to be finally told she is on break. The manager even came by to apologize as he realized he misspoke and told us to make up for it he would give our table a round of shots, we declined as not all of our table drinks and we mainly came for the happy hour tacos. The manager stated not a problem and instead will give us a churro dessert for free for our table to enjoy. So we accepted his offer and We ordered our meal.. it is now time to pay and they bring the churro dessert out but the manager is now refusing to comp the dessert for free. The original waiter is now coming back from her 45 min break and she is telling us they cannot comp food. I advised her this was offered to us by the manager due to both his and your error. The waiter stated their is nothing she can do since we ate it and we have to pay for it.

I was extremely upset as we are celebrating a birthday and heard so many good things about this restaurant to receive such disappointing service from the very moment we were seated. I payed for my bill and will obviously never return. It really sucks that people can ruin someone’s day just by a simple error that in my opinion kept getting worse and worse as the night went on. I would also hope management honors their word as I said we only came for the tacos and only accepted the churros since the Manager himself admitted he misspoke and stated he will give us the churro platter for Free to make up for it. 1.Order the Sushi boat & ask for extra ginger. Was told they don't have ginger. It's sushi why wouldn't you offer that? Or wasabi.

2.told our server if we could get 2 tequila drinks with mock berries & he said that was called a bartender creation. Then he goes on break & things go wrong. We get this nasty drink w/gen I believe. It was served on the rocks w/whole berries & a nasty stick of rosemary. (Berries weren't mock & one of the drinks was half empty. We immediately told the servers that brought our drinks and she called our server & the server explained well You might as well finish it. and I was like finish it? I haven't even drink it. They give it to me like this) she then said she el would voide it.& I said no just make it right. Then they called the manager & she said it's a bartender choice & it can't be voided. I said that's fine just fix the problem & they said we can't make you new drinks. I was like they get our drinks wrong but they can't fix it wooow.

3.I told them I was there to celebrate my good friends birthday & if they can please give me a treat w/candle. The server ask me "is it really her birthday" I look at her and said of course that's why we are here. She ask me for her I.D. but she's a bezzy mama because her daughter just started college & they had open a bank account that day. Her daughter had her I.D. so she said you'll have to pay. I was no problem & then when she went to get more gen to make it even they brought the ice cream car & the server said. "I'm gonna make things write for you. I'm gonna take out the ice cream car out of your tab. We thought that's nice of her. & when the bill came. We paid & I'm not the type to check my bill. But when we left I did. & notice I got charged for the ice cream car.

Mr.Tempo you fill your mouth up saying you have the best staff. & As an old associate of a big socal burger chain in.n.out. I say you don't. Your staff was rude & disrespectful & making assumptions. Never again I'll go spend my money where ppl have respect &, know how to do they job. Because if any associate @ in.n.out would act the way your manager did or even the lady server. That would be they last day of...

Where do I begin?

Well, I will start with parking. You can park on the street or pay $8 for valet. I did valet because I didn't feel like searching for parking. It was quick and easy.

Walking up to the restaurant I instantly felt like I was in Miami or Vegas. The music was LOUD and there were bottle girls almost naked walking around and a ton of stuff going on. I was overwhelmed. EVERYTHING WAS LOUD and I had no clue what the hostess was even saying. That was really bad

My friend and I were sitting inside and I don't think they had air conditioning. The restaurant was cute and hip and I loved the decor. However, It was HOT and the music was loud. So loud I couldn't think straight or converse with my friend. That was pretty bad again, I couldn't even hear the waitress. I'm serious it was loud! We asked if we could sit outside and the waitress was nice enough to move us. It was better. Maybe we were sitting under a speaker inside but it was bad. Outside we also had a breeze. The music was still loud as heck, but I could hear my friend a bit more.

I tried the Burria Tacos and they were really good. It was my first time having them so I was happy! I think my friend had the Aguachiles and it was delicious and fresh and seasoned well.

I ordered 3 Whiskey Smash and they were excellent and strong. I wish I could have ordered it by the bucket lol. So good.

My friend had 2 Whiskey smash and one Sangria and she enjoyed them as well.

The customer service was okay all around. Our waitress Evelyn was nice and informative. I enjoyed her.

I probably won't be back ONLY because the vibe and loud music isn't what I want if I'm trying to converse with friends. Again it gave a Miami Beach, beach club, Vegas poolside vibe and I don't think that's my vibe.

The food is yummy though so I would order to go!
