Update March 2025
Still think their menudo is one of the best but for $25 dollars, they can do better. For $5 extra, they can give you a bit more nervio or at least put it on the side so at least you feel like you’re getting something extra. They insist it has to be in the bowl, which means you are getting less menudo so why $5? I even asked to buy another side order cause I enjoy nervio, but they insist they can’t and only offer if I buy another bowl of menudo. WTF?!?! They offer a taco de nervio for $6 instead, but that was a disappointment. Very little meat and was all tortilla. On top of all that, my menudo wasn’t served hot. Was just warm and I like my soups to be served hot! Now I’m in $31 before tax and tip for traditional Mexican comfort food that’s about $15 almost anywhere else and there are others out there that are pretty good as well.
My GF enjoyed her enchiladas, but agrees there are others out there as good or better and not as pricy. Beans were still great, but she said rice was off. Old or something. Service was great again and seemed very apologetic for the policy. Certainly not their fault.
Hype over! Going back to the local mom and pop shops for my next menudo fix.
If they get over themselves and open up a little on their policies, I might be back. ———
Best menudo in So Cal so far. My GF’s grandfather agrees! Only places better that I have tried were in Baja and Guadalajara!
Wait was pretty short for a Monday around Noon. Tried the menudo and the special short rib chilaquiles. GF doesn’t eat menudo, so finally got to try their sit down place as she does enjoy chilaquiles.
$25 for a bowl of menudo with nervio is pretty steep, otherwise would give them 5 stars. They should also offer it on the side, cause if you pay an extra $5 for something, you don’t want it to displace the meat in the menudo too. They can do better on the salsas too. The one thy give with chips was ok, but not spicy. Asked for something spicier and they said they only give those for to go orders - WTF? Whatever. If I had ordered tacos, would have been a big issue for me, but since I didn’t need for menudo, not to bad. They do have chili oil and powder for the menudo if you like it spicy like I do. Last complaint was they made the chilaquiles with onions when we asked for no onions and only offered to take them off, not remake. GF was not happy. Definitely will be back for more menudo, but have to save...
Read moreThis is the second time coming here for menudo and the last! The first time I came here for menudo, it had an odor to it. This odor happens when the stomach linings are not cleaned properly. I know this because I make menudo myself and my menudo never stinks! I tend to wash it 3 to 4 times with hot water, and it usually takes that smell out. This is not the only place I've been to where their menudo smells. But this second time, it smelled again! This let's me know how thorough they are with their cleaning process. We also were charged for extra tortillas when we asked for more, that was because they only just gave us one order on two orders of menudo. I had also asked the server if they could heat my tortillas on the comal because they were just giving them to us steamed...really? I know the majority of us Mexicans, we don't eat steamed tortillas, they are usually heated on the comal or hot plate. Wtf? And of course we get our tortillas seemed! (I asked in Spanish too, so there was no misunderstanding). I had also asked for little hominy (granos), I got my bowl served with so much hominy it looked like pozole. $24.50(nervio) for smelly menudo, can't get the tortillas warmed properly(only taco bell does that), too much hominy. I'll do it at home. I will give them that the coffee they served was outstanding. So, maybe the rest of the food is not bad but the service is not great either when servers don't pay attention to detail but are quick to charge when for everything even it wasn't supposed to be changed like my...
Read moreI seen post about this place on TikTok. I love menudo so I decided to give this place a try. I’m so glad I did.
The parking is small but you can park on the streets. When you arrive be prepared to wait about 45min or longer but trust me it’s worth the wait.
The host in the front by the name of Alexa is very welcoming, I gotta give her props she remains calm under pressure there are so many people coming & going. She handles the front like a professional. I would have lost my marbles.
When we finally got seated, we were greeted by our server Patty she was very nice & attentive even though she was busy she made sure we were taken care of. she immediately gave us chips and salsa, the chips are delicious but if you want a refill you will get charged an additional fee. There was a little hiccup on my order but nothing that could not be fix she took care of it right away.
The menudo is huge and so delicious. Come hungry or be prepared to take left overs home. The hand made corn tortillas are to die for. They are very generous with the meat if you want nervio it will be an additional fee, trust me It’s worth the additional fee. You can order it with or with out harmony. They have a variety of food not just menudo. I was looking at the servers every time they would bring out food to the other tables, everything looked yummy! The prices are reasonable.
Do I recommend this place? hell yes! I will definitely be back. Can wait to try...
