This place was really bragged on. So why decided to try it out. I went there and the place was empty. There was a woman sitting at the closest table to the window and a man behind the counter. I went up to look at the menu, and that place is very pricey. I almost got up and walked out, but I decided to try it. The sad part is when he brings my food, which $9.39 is a pork sandwich, a small bag of chips, and a foam cup for a drink. I asked him how much weight the pork was that I would get on the sandwich, and he told me 5 oz. I asked the lady in there what was probably the best sauce to put on the pork, so that didn't get burned up. What she suggested was good. Apparently, the lady I am assuming only that must have been his girlfriend or a very good friend. This sad Part is when he brought my sandwich. It was almost totally cold. I couldn't believe it. The shredded pork was fabulous, but who wants a cold sandwich. I told the ladies she needs to tell the man up front or somebody in the back that the The meat on the sandwich was almost totally cold. I asked about maybe baked beans or potato salad but if I'm not mistaken It was like 2.69 for each side And I think the sandwich was 584 or 684 just for the sandwich. Here is my critique over the whole store the meat was fabulous tasting but if it would have been hot it would've been a wonderful experience to eat a hot pork sandwich that tasted so good. No one wants a cold sandwich it's too pricey to eat in there in my opinion because if you went to Sonny's barbecue like they have a memory where in Florida you get big beans for potato salad or coast all whatever you want for your side and it's much cheaper At Sunny's in Florida you can get a pork sandwich and a large bowl of beans for 599 But you Can get a meal with baked beans potato salad cold slow whatever sides you would What the point I'm trying to get across is this guy would have a heck of a business if he had a fair price with baked beans or potato salad and what have you for a special everyday but you don't have one you're too pricey and the place was empty nobody was eating an egg except for me and then before I left I was in there for an hour I don't get in a hurry and 2 people came to the door so I've always looked at it this way in life business ethics right price right food you will always be busy that's what he needs to learn in my opinion I can guarantee you He's high Prices Keep people away I won't be back because of...
Read moreI wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars. Too bad Google does not have an excellence button, or better. That is what this place deserves.
As I was on my way back to Maryland from Florida I noticed that I was only about 2 hours away from the "Best Ribs in GA" so I had to give it a try, and OMG am I glad I did.
When I walked in to the restaurant I was taken back by the modern but welcoming interior, it was like BBQ for the New South or something, Chic yet still BBQ, mad props to the interior designer, Also as a side note, although the dining area was closed I could not find one, smudge, streak, piece of dust, crumb anywhere. I could literally have eaten my meal off the floor.
I had the 2 meat meal with sides, I selected the Ribs and Brisket with 2 sides and honestly I can not tell you what happened after I put the rib in my mouth, it was like I was in a daze of delirious satisfaction. It melted. No lie. I had heard that expression used before and thought it was just a saying but, nope, they actually melted in my mouth. I was on the phone with my girlfriend and she made me switch it to Facetime because of the sounds I was making, but really I was just making love to that sweet rib.
My side of Mac and Cheese was the best I have ever had by far, It tasted so good I think they may have gotten the recipe from God himself.
Long review short if you are ever anywhere near Dublin, GA and want to know what real BBQ should taste like and ruin BBQ for the rest of your life from any other place then I would put it on my bucket list to stop by Holy Smokes BBQ and grab you some, it's hip and cool to the eye but the food taste like it came passed down from 7 generations experience.
The staff was awesome and helpful! I asked for a bag with some ice to take a order home to Maryland and they fixed me up a care package that was still cold 12+ hours later.
I'm already thinking of excuses to head South just so I...
Read moreMy mom has been to this establishment twice on her lunch break. On the 1st occasion, she was completely ignored & was never served. She stopped again today, & was greeted outside by someone pressuring her to move her vehicle because she didn't park straight. Mind you, this would be a very quick stop to get lunch (in & out), & there were 5 empty parking spaces next to where she parked. So, she was not hindering any additional patrons from parking. She kindly took her business elsewhere just as she did the 1st time. This type of service & lack thereof is not acceptable on any level & is definitely not appropriate customer service as she felt discriminated against on both occasions. This is lost business for your establishment.
Response to Reply: Holy Smokes BBQ, thank you for your response & for clarifying it wasn't one of your employees. However, I'm sure she would have mentioned it was a police officer if she had noticed a badge, uniform, or anything identifying the gentleman as such (& even if he'd identified himself as an officer), but she was not aware of that as she was greeted/addressed right as she existed her vehicle. Her vehicle is rather large & she has a physical disability on top of needing to get something quick to eat today so she could return to work. I understand spaces can sometimes fill quickly, but my question would be whether or not all those spaces actually quickly filled to capacity within the 15-20 minutes after she left. Also, parking in multiple spots gives a different connotation than double parking (which is what actually occurred in this case, whether fully in 2 spots or only partially over the line of a 2nd spot).
Regarding her 1st visit, she actually went to the counter (unfortunately, I don't have the specific date), and with the encounter today, she did not receive a good impression. Again, I appreciate your response and will relay your...
