The single most well known local restaurant in Dublin, Georgia...and I'm giving it 4 stars. I feel like a traitor. Jack's Hamburgers is THE single place most people living here at least know of, if not have been in, many times in their lives. This place never changes, always the exact same quarter size piece of meat, on what seems like Wonder Dinner rolls, with onions, ketchup, mustard I think, and way too delicious to resist. It costs a little more than I'd like, but it's hard to pass them up. Why do I give them 4 stars though rather than 5? Because their competitor is who I choose when I want this kinda meal. The Minute Grill in my opinion outdoes them, but if anyone from out of town is gonna come into Dublin, I'm sorry, but Jack's is still the place I'm gonna direct them toward. It's too historical to Dublin's history to overlook, or write anything bad about, because it simply is good. I wish they offered french fries, and chicken sandwiches, but they don't. They offer burgers and hotdogs, good cold cokes, and bags of chips, and they have absolutely no reason to change that. Despite everything said, I may still go in for another sackful of...
Read moreThis place is a nostalgic restaurant that was popular decades ago that still manages to stay in the game. The inside looks like photographs from some of the civil rights era barstool diners that we have all likely viewed. The hostess was the cook and cashier. I almost walked out but he slid in a glove before preparing the food. The sliders predate the title sliders, but the meat patties are undeniably small. When another reviewer cited them as thumbnail size, he was pretty accurate. They could probably fit there on a dinner roll and hot have overlap. The jalapeño cheeseburger was really tasty, but even with the double there was still more bun than burger. The draw seems to be the sweetness combined with the grilled onion flavor. All that said, it’s not the best that I have ever tasted, but if I go through Dublin GA again I’ll likely grab...
Read moreVisited Jacks recently with my mom in tow. It was my first visit and even the guy there behind the grill remarked “wow”. Let me first start off by saying this is an institution for Dublinites. Jacks has been around for many decades. I had 3 “doubles” and a bottled coke. My mom had a single and a bottled coke as well. I must say the burgers are small “Krystal’s-like” but to compare them to Krystal’s is sacrilege. The two guys manning the restaurant were very nice and accommodating. The restaurant be it “tight” and “cozy” felt adequate just rather than”warm” on a hot Georgia summer day. It has taken me 43 years to try jacks but best believe it will not take a year more for me to be back!...
