The family and I were in the area and wanted to try the Brick Oven Pizza.
We arrived ro find the place empty, which isn't usually a good sign, but we were there right before the lunch rush.
We sat at a booth, which as a taller/bigger guy I avoid as most of the time they aren't comfortable but these were pretty good. The seat cushion wasn't the best but I had room to sit comfortably.
The waitress couldn't have been more pleasant. She took her time with getting us drinks and our food order. We were happy to see they had Coke Products.
We ordered a little bit of e everything from the menu. We ordered a large pizza with half pepperoni, an appetizer of Cheese Wiz Fries, a side of buttered bowtie pasta, a kids chicken w/fries and a cheesesteak with fried onions.
The cheese wiz fries were good. The fries were crispy which we prefer. The cheesesteak was really good and came with a pickle and chips. The kids chicken w/fries was real chicken cutlets pounded flat, breaded and fried. Great to see they don't go to the processed meat frozen section for their kids meals.
The pizza was the star of the show. We did order a half pepperoni Pizza but it came out full pepperoni which was a little disappointing. The style of pizza is not NY Style but more Neapolitan Style. The fresh mozzarella may not be everyone's favorite but it gives the pizza a very fresh taste that pairs well with the plum tomato pizza sauce which was on thr sweet side so it balanced out well. We did feel there was too much cheese on the pizza but that's just our preference. The crust was fantastic. The soft pillowy dough was the best part.
I watched the pizzaiolo work the Brick Oven and he definitely knows his way around a wood fired Brick Oven. I saw him rotate and lift the pizza to the top of the oven where it is much hotter to hit the pizza with more heat. Really neat to see in person.
We really enjoyed our experience. If we are back in the area we will be sure to come back and try...
Read moreSadly, I was so disappointed in my meal at Lubertos today. My one son had the cheese fries. They use the coated fries which do not go well with cheese. That's a preference thing so can't hold it against them. My other son had a personal pizza. It was decent but not to the standard I've had there before. I had the eggplant Parm. It started with a disappointing side salad of only lettuce and a few croutons. I'm a big fan of lettuce so I enjoyed it for what it was even though I wished there was a tomato or cucumber slice thrown in. It's the summer and we have plenty of fresh veggie stands in the area. When the main came out, it initially looked really good. However, if you placed that dish in front of 10 people and didn't tell them what it was, I guarantee they couldn't come up with eggplant Parm. It did not have cheese. That was a first for me. But the most concerning thing is, it hardly has eggplant! The slices were few and far between and when I was able to discern one, it was sliced thin enough to see through and only about 1 square inch with the exception of one slice I found that was just seeds. I literally peeled layer after layer of breading apart, dissecting the dish to see if I could find any eggplant. Their version of eggplant Parm is more of a breading lasagna. No eggplant flavor but the sauce they use is nice. I enjoyed the angel hair pasta I got on the side. Cooked well. I have been to this restaurant before and enjoyed it many times. The prices are a bit high, but the food was always worth it and I always brought home the leftovers. Today, I left them for the trash. I'm assuming new ownership? Or the owners are looking to go out of business. Either way, they have a...
Read moreDisappointing takeout experience tonight. Ordered baked manicotti with pink vodka sauce on the side, which the receipt clearly identifies that the pink vodka sauce was substituted ($4.95 additional charge also for this sauce to he substituted instead of marinara, which is also identified on the menu) and was to be ON THE SIDE. Received the pink vodka sauce on the side as ordered but also received the manicotti swimming in red sauce? The item was ordered with pink vodka sauce on the side, and the receipt clearly identifies it was substituted for the regular sauce. The problem is the individual doesn’t eat red sauce. Called about it after getting home and received ignorance that it wasn’t ordered properly? I’m not sure what that means because the receipt seems pretty clear — if the pink vodka sauce was substituted why would there be red sauce all over the food? What was it substituted for? So it got tossed along with the side of sauce as there was no use for it. The other meal (pink vodka penne with grilled chicken) was bland in comparison to how it usually is. Very much hit or miss here but will be hesitant to return due to not being willing to fix the error while prices have also gone up and quality doesnt seem on point at all times. Adding a little chicken in the pasta dish has skyrocketed to $7.00 and it was overcooked and dry….sometimes the food can be excellent but Im not willing to take the risk when it’s between $40 and $50 for these two takeout meals. Too many options for that. Sorry for this review but just...
