This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long time. I ordered the Jalisco special. When the cook brought my food out it consisted of a chicken breast, what they claimed was a ribeye steak and 3 tortillas. (It was a flank steak) I asked the cook about the sides and the cheese that's supposed to come with it. The server told me nothing else came with it. At this point I was a little perplexed and asked to see a menu. The waitress brought a menu, and agreed that it was supposed to have sides and cheese. It took over 10 minutes for them to bring the sides that were supposed to join my meal. I had ordered my steak medium rare. It was well done. I politely asked the waitress to remove the steak from my bill. At this point both the steak and chicken were cold. She looked at me, didn't say a word and walked off. It is one thing to make mistakes on food, but when the service is below sub-par it just takes all the joy out of dining. I will never spend another penny here. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Duluth, Mexican restaurants at that. With this kind of service, I'll be surprised if Margarita's is around much longer.
Edited:To the margaritas owner: I attempted to have it made right while at your establishment. I was met with absolutely rude behavior on the part of your staff. I wasn't rude nor did I treat anyone with disrespect. I simply asked for what I was paying for. In addition...your staff appeared very comfortable behaving in such a rude manner. By that alone, I would guess that this is the treatment anyone can expect from your establishment. There are quite a few bad reviews from the past few months. Had I looked at reviews before attempting to dine at margaritas, I would have chosen another establishment to...

Arrived around 6:30pm on a Sunday. Really loud obnoxious music playing over the PA. We love cultural music but what they were playing sounded like a mariachi band who couldn't hold a tune while on speed... Nasty tasting old fryer oil chips, very long wait on food, and a simple request like a side of queso was difficult for them as well. They forgot it, we had to wait longer and finally the server said "I'll just go in the kitchen and dish it up myself." Wow. The food was average, seafood enchiladas tasted bland, chicken was dry, and rice tasted burned. The staff was very kind and polite, and had an apologetic attitude as if they knew things were bad and that they were trying their best... They were clearly understaffed. It felt like a management / ownership issue... To that point - then we heard one of the staff say out loud that his shift was done but he was sticking around to help because he could see it was needed... Wow, really? Glad it was at least apparent to the staff! Note to management: Change the oil in those fryers regularly, please. Because seriously, GROSS. Also, staff the restaurant properly, please! And finally, address quality control on what's coming out of your kitchen. No more bland or burned food. Because as a patron, it's incredibly depressing to endure all of this and then be expected to actually pay for it. I hope you enjoyed taking my money this time because you'll never see it...
Read moreFor those who read the other reviews honestly take in consideration that each person experience different atmosphere, but honestly from all the nasty reviews my friend and I didn't have any problems.
We arrived at 4pm on a Friday, our server was very friendly and fast at getting our drinks. The restaurant wasn't very packed until we left so our food came out fairly quick as well. The portion size was satisfying I ordered the California burrito and my friend ordered the Philly cheese burrito. We shared a large queso and the queso fries, we were both incredibly full. The bill came out to be shockingly less than we expected in which I commented " I feel like we just robbed the place for how much we just ate." Compared to little Angie's/ Lindos I very much enjoy the low key atmosphere verses the turroist spot of canal park so it was a plus. Plus I believe the restaurant owner owns Mexican lindo or has ties with it in some way.
So overall the negative reviews seem bogus from what I've heard, the only thing is the salsa does resemble "pizza sauce" but honestly for endless chips I don't know why people are so petty. My friend and I are going...
