The spice house is a beautiful decorative place inside, but the Food is not up to par I went there this past weekend first time there ,when I walked in I was excited to see such a beautiful place. So I realize that on their menu that they offer a mixture of Jamaican and Haitian cuisine so we decided to order the Coconut shrimp as our appetizer and the charcuterie board. as our main dish now the board contains Mixture of lamb chops jerk chicken, red snapper black Haitian rice The jerk chicken was undercooked in the inside and chard on the outside as well as the lamb chops were overcooked and burnt now the Haitian black rice was not up to my expectations. It was under seasoned ,There was no green peas or shrimp in the black rice definitely not the taste of Authentic Haitian black rices so I explain this to my waiter and she pretty much was like well OK do you want something to drink? She kind of overlooked it so eventually I said something I said excuse me young lady may I speak to your manager? She asked me why I’ll begin to tell her exactly what I said in the above statement, she said that she will go get her manager. I seen her speaking to her manager About the situation, I did not know that the gentleman that was on the end of the bar that was staring at us eating our food while we where there was the manager she came back with a discounted bill, but the manager never came over to address us or to apologize. may I remind you that the gratuity is added in the bill as well it was $18 but me and my husband still left the young lady $20. Because we don’t want anyone to feel that we were trying to eat at a discounted price That is not the case the Food just was not...
Read moreI’d been patiently awaiting the opening of this new restaurant which is a mile from our home. My husband and I came for dinner tonight on Friday evening. We were equally impressed as soon as we walked in the door and were immediately greeted by the outgoing and professional hostess who seated us. The bar is gorgeous near the front entrance, and we liked the modern decor from the lighting to the tables and tropical fabric chairs and lovely plush upholstered booth seating. Dee was our server and she was extremely upbeat and friendly as she came to our table to welcome us and share information about the restaurant, the chef, and she explained the menu in detail starting with drinks and continuing on to the uniqueness of the food items and the preparation. Dee made great recommendations which did not disappoint. We started with rum punch which was wonderful along with the generous portion of huge coconut crusted shrimp….which I will say was the best I’ve had. My husband ordered paella for his entree which he thoroughly enjoyed and I ordered the salmon dish which was fantastic. Dee checked on us frequently and we ordered 2 more rum punch drinks along with an order of the delicious and unique pineapple bread pudding which was a recommendation from Dee. YUM to everything. The manager, Louis, even came over to our table to welcome us which was super nice. The background music (my old school favorites) made for a nice ambiance too. What a great new restaurant addition for Duluth. I’ve already told a few friends. We will definitely be back. Kudos to Dee who served us and was fun to talk with and the entire...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant as some place new to try and possibly add to our very few restaurant list to repeat. The host was warm and welcoming, the server was nice in the beginning but did not handle my Dietary needs well. Rice causes my blood sugar to rise and I get headaches. I ordered the Snapper dish...at $47 yet, they could not substitute the side of rice for a side of mixed veggies. I paid $6 for the side of mixed veggies. The server did not handle the situation well and kept going back and forth with me... she did not offer to check with the chef [ss some restaurants do], she actually said if I have a special diet I should "order a meal on the menu you what you can eat". Well...these if meals are designed restrictively where a customer can add to the meal but can't substitute then... what she said was quite insulting... Restaurants that do customer service well know how to handle dietary needs requests and know how to accommodate dietary needs to make the customer's experience enjoyable. For $47 there could have been a substitution or even a lesser charge for the side of mixed veggies. Food was okay but considering there are other Caribbean or afro-centric restaurants around Atlanta that would accommodate dietary needs, overall, we will not be repeat customers and it is not on our...
