I do not believe that I have ever written a review of a restaurant; but, tonight I must do so. Whether it be the restaurant itself or Winestyles, my adult children, their friends, and I have patronized this establishment for near 20 years, whether in-person or through the carry-out service. NEVER until tonight has anyone, in this case the cashier on a take out order, boldly lied to me. And, if she has done this to me, it is likely she has done such to other patrons.
In short, I ordered a shrimp Caesar saled and mozzarella sticks via carry out. When I arrived, I asked that the container with the salad, and there were three containers (one containing pita bread), be opened so that I could ensure that the dressing was placed on the side, as ordered. I had asked about the number of shrimp in the saled, since now 3 shrimp are in a side salad and 5 in a main course salad. The cashier did not appear to know this. However, one of the owners came up, counted the shrimp and said this appeared to be the correct order. That was all fine.
I paid for my order. Yet, when I got into my car, I noticed that the container with the pita bread had been removed. I went back inside the restaurant and asked what happened to the pita bread. The cashier looked me in the eyes and said that pita bread does not come with the salad and that the container of pita originally placed in my order bag, was intended for a different customer.
I left the restaurant, but promptly called my son who, not 30 minutes before, had also ordered a Caesar salad and received the pita bread. Thus, I returned to the restaurant. By that time approximately 4 waitresses were at the cashier’s station. I explained what had occurred. One of the waitress stated that pita is not given with side orders. They all appeared prepared to back up the cashier’s statement that pita also is not given under any circumstance with such salad, until I informed them that my son had that same night purchased a ceasar salad and received pita bread. I explained that my salad was not a side order. They then tried to convince me that perhaps there was just confusion as to whether the salad was a side order or not. I made clear that no such confusion existed, because one of the owners had specifically counted the shrimp in front of the cashier. Rather, the cashier simply told me something that was not true, in other words, she blew me off.
I left the restaurant. Yet, when I got into my car, I called the restaurant and advised them that I did not appreciate being lied to and that while a long-time patron of the restaurant, neither I nor any of my children, nor their friends (if I can convince them of such), would patronize the restaurant again.
The point of all of this is that Giorgio’s has transformed into a restaurant in which its employees are allowed to lie and disrespect its patrons, in this case, so transparently. Giorgio’s needs its patrons in order to thrive and survive. Its patrons do not need the restaurant.
As an attorney, I have deposed and examined many adverse witnesses. Still, they had the common sense to not so mock me. It is a shame. This use to be such a nice restaurant which I would have highly recommended to anyone. Not...
Read moreI thought that with a name like Giorgio’s I would be in for delicious and authentic Italian food. Sadly this was not the case. I ordered the Chicken francaise and was thoroughly underwhelmed. Not only did the meal not come with bread (I’ve never been to an Italian restaurant that did not provide bread before the meal), the salad was out of a 99¢ bag of iceberg lettuce from Walmart. The tomatoes were starting to go bad as well. As for the chicken; it was dry, was not thoroughly coated with egg batter, and contained cartilage throughout. Additionally, there was skin or some other type of connective tissue that prevented me from separating pieces into bites with my fork. This meal just wasn’t doing it for me. Frankly, I could have made a better chicken francaise myself at home. Whoever cooked this meal was simply going through the motions and does not belong in a restaurant bearing an Italian name. This meal would have been fine if it only cost the $6 or $7 dollars the ingredients probably cost, but for nearly $20 this is just unacceptable. I politely returned the chicken to the waiter and asked for a cheeseburger knowing that it would take serious effort on the cooks part to screw up. The cheeseburger was decent, although I was disappointed by the lack of cheddar cheese (only choices were Swiss, American, or provolone I believe). However, the issue here was the fries, which were dry and very burnt. They tasted like old, stale fries that the kitchen staff simply reheated in a toaster oven. Again, unacceptable at this price point! Even McDonald’s provides hot, fresh fries with a combo meal. I elected to decline dessert as if the quality of the main course was any indication, i would likely not be satisfied with the dessert. So while the waiter was very nice and the wait time was not long, the quality of the food combined with its high price mean that I would not return to...
Read moreMy guy is telling me how good it was a few times while we passed them by driving in the past. I don't from here but I live downtown area next to DC for 25 years in Arlington. So, I decided to ask him to go there for my FIRST TIME. We got in and sat there on the table. I looked at the wall with boards, framed with pictures & newspaper & news. A hostess of tall lady is friendly but she is good ambitious to keep busy her duty. I like it. A lady from our waitress is good to keep us up as well. He told me and show me that an owner is here. I saw him. A restroom for women is clean and good. I can see a lot of people here and almost overcrowding. I can see where the customers keep coming here through the door and stand in line or take a seat on the bench for waiting not so long, interesting. I did an order for a cup of water with ice cubes, side of salad with honey mustard dressing, and seafood linguini. Oh darn, they don't have Pinto Giorgio white glass of wine on the wine listing. Now, I did look, smelled, tasted, and ate them what I'm thinking my food on the plate and his food on the plate.
My honest opinion:
SIDE OF SALAD with honey mustard dressing. Iceberg lettuce, cucumber, tomato, olives, green peppers, onions, baby tomatoes, and feta.
P.S. It's all good. I ate all of them.
SEAFOOD LINGUINI with sautéed shrimp, scallops, baby clams, and calamari. I choose the creamy white sauce.
P.S. I disliked them at all, none. I'm unhappy and disappointment because they don't have any favor just plain. Seafood's watery it in sort of it. I didn't eat all of them. I put them away.
Also, I did taste my guy his soup and his meal. I disliked both of them still taste plain not even to say wow.
I might not come back there again. I'm...
