If you crossed Popeyes and Churches to make chicken, you’d have Tex’s.
I stopped in for a quick bite and will most certainly be a returning customer. this was by far the best-fried chicken I’ve had in a while. I will caveat that I got it immediately from the grease, and the owner, Adam, said to have a taste now so you can experience the food. He was so right! The chicken was flavorful and juicy, not to mention crunchy; the site is clean and well-kept (which I would expect, given it’s only been open a few days). I’ll give a pass on the number of facilities and machines (a bottle-coke machine and restroom) that are out of order, given that they were only opened a couple of days ago.
Food: OMG, with the perfect heat balance on the bite's back end.
The , but they needed more seasoning, whether that be salt or a special seasoning blend. They lacked a little bit of oomph to make them special. Again, they were hot, so bonus points for hot fries. I did see the biscuits; the spice level was just enough to make you want more, never overpowering, and seasoned enough not to be monolithic in the flavor profile.
The fries were crispy and good which looked really good.
Certainly not the traditional hockey puck that you would get in other restaurants. They looked soft and certainly were hot as they had just come from the oven.
The menu is somewhat simple with burgers, fries, chicken tenders and fried shrimp. It’s pretty easy to navigate and they had a special four pieces of chicken for five dollars or a five dollar meal which is what I received a thigh and leg with fries. They do charge à la carte for every other thing, including the sauce if you’re not buying chicken tenders.
The ambiance The restaurant was very clean and I appreciate the design. It is simple yet impactful they emphasized fresh never frozen and yellow letters that really had a pop of color on the neutral background to underscore the freshness of the food.
The service What I appreciate the most about the service is the food was made fresh so I expected a wait, which I was totally OK with I also appreciate the fact that even though they’re learning a new point of sale system, they were open to communicate with me about the training of the cashier.
Overall, this is a welcomed addition to the food scene here in Woodbridge and certainly a place that I...
Read moreI love love love this franchise and their food, but the service at this location was really bad. The night shift cashier, who was older and wearing glasses maybe late 30s to mid 40s, was extremely rude. From the start, he spoke to us as if we were getting the food for free instead of paying customers. I first asked for a Fishwich, and he replied with attitude that they were out. I changed my order to a Classic Cheeseburger and asked for no lettuce. He looked at me and said, “there’s only pickles in the classic.” I told him I wanted that removed, and then he insisted it only came with lettuce while pointing to the screen as if I hadn’t just asked him to remove it. Next, I ordered chicken tenders, and again he gave attitude, saying “chicken and tenders are two different things.” I pointed to the screen where it clearly said “chicken tenders,” and only then did he acknowledge it but still kept arguing. Finally, I asked for sweet and sour sauce, and with an attitude he said that they didn’t have any. The whole interaction was full of attitude. What bothered me most was that the customers after us who spoke the same language as him were greeted warmly and treated with patience, even though they were indecisive. With us, however, he was rude and dismissive the entire time. So I wanna know if they only treat customers nicer if they speak the same language. The experience was very disappointing, especially since I love this franchise. I get that it’s 10 pm and everyone is tired but he did not have to be unnecessarily rude. I really do wanna give a higher rating but he just made the whole thing so bad I don’t feel comfortable...
