The Human Bean — Restaurant in Dumont

Place is very cute inside. Service was questionable.. staff not aware of things on the menu, but maybe the entire staff was new, I’m not sure. They were polite but very confused by simple questions and requests. Food was awful, I was so disappointed. Egg bites hot on outside, cold on the side. But the real disappointment was the coffee.. I got an iced latte with oat milk.. the final product had zero ice, was very warm, and tasted like drip coffee, not expresso. I asked for a small cup of ice on the side.. once I added about 1/3 of the ice the coffee was so diluted it was not drinkable. Unfortunately not worth the expensive $6.66 price tag. I love visiting different coffee shops all over Bergen county, Passaic county, and NY, this actually takes the cake for the worst one.

EDIT: My Chiropractor is down the street, so I decided to try this place out again 5/7/24 at 6:35pm. Definitely done with this place. I decided to be safe and order a pastry. I went for the swirly looking banana loaf. It was hard like a rock, dry and crumbled at my touch. Returned it promptly, which is embarrassing I never do stuff like that but it was 100% inedible. Cashier was apologetic and did the return once she saw how bad it was. Safe to say, will not be going...

I will no longer be returning.

I have visited about 6 times or more, I was hoping this be my spot for the next decade I live in Bergenfield.

Unfortunately, I have no tolerance for bad service. I ordered the energy drink for a second time in two days.

The first time I ordered it without ice and it caused some disturbance in the staff. The person in charge seemed to be disturbed and looked in my direction. They explained my 32 oz would be 24 without ice and I stated "Ok".

The next day I ordered the drink and the manager from before looked out to see who made the order. It seemed (assuming) the manager gave the directive to disregard my request and give me ice. When I got the drink I immediately stated I said "no ice". The person deviously smiled and said oh the drink was half filled, then exited to the back.

Suggestion to the owner, I understand how the business works but don't sacrifice service. Other renown business have better practices towards this. JUST CHARGE ME EXTRA or say it's not an option. Give me choices don't just ignore my request, that was crazy. Please don't do that to other customers, they may not be as kind...

I recently moved to Dumont, and The Human Bean has quickly become one of my favorite spots!
