I was in the mood for birria tacos and Googled to find a place nearby my house. On their menu, they also touted that it's their specialty. It was a major letdown! Take it from me, an Asian guy who just moved to Dumont from the State of Jalisco, MX, (the birthplace of BIRRIA tacos). I know tacos, and specifically BIRRIA tacos, quite well! The birria tacos they are serving are slightly on the smaller side. Even though I ordered mine for takeout, my house is literally around the corner (2-minute drive). By the time I sat down to eat, the outer shell was already soggy. The meat flavor was okay; it could use more Oaxaca cheese though. As many of you should know, the consommé is what makes the whole birria taco eating experience - being able to dip your taco into a flavorful soup or chase it after every bite. I can attest that the soup they gave me had a strange flavor, like it was about to go bad, not the typical consommé/tangy broth I have grown to appreciate. If the owners of this place are serious about providing a true, authentic Mexican food experience, then they have a lot of work to do. But the masses won't even know unless you have been to Mexico and have tried real birria tacos.
At $45 for 3 birria tacos plus an order of loaded fries with (very minimal skirt steak), that's expensive, and I'm not a cost-conscious person. You guys are completely missing the mark on Mexican food; it's expensive. A hard pass as far as a...

Tortilla Chips Taco Gringo Yardbird Taco House Made Chorizó Taco Al Pastor Taco Buffalo Cauliflower Taco Plantain & Black Bean Taco
Appearance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I decided to “pop” in POP Taco & Bar and had a poppin’ time!
Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday; buy one house taco and get the second one free.
Between the restaurant title and this awesome deal, it’s pretty obvious which route I decided to go!
The gringo was the sole taco that came in a hard shell packed with beef while the yardbird was packed with hot honey fried chicken.
While the chorizo had an uncanny combination of vegetables, I gave my tastebuds the benefit of the doubt and devoured this immediately. The Al pastor was piled with pineapples, which was surprisingly another great addition to this tortilla!
Just when I had enough surprises, the plot thickened as I explored vegetarian tacos. Never would I ever guessed that cauliflower and bananas mix well on a soft shell! I ironically report that the taste actually surpassed the protein tacos!
Taco Tuesday is a terrific time to tower through tremendous tacos!

Read moreThis spot is about a 45-minute drive from my house. It has been on my list for a few months now but just always seemed too far of a drive for some tacos. However, I had some spare time on Sunday and decides to give it a go. The entrance is really cute and inviting.
We I arrived I was immediately greeted by Janeth and offered a table or a seat at the bar. She was welcoming and very professional. She offered me chips and menus as I waited for my other dining partner to arrive.
I had the virgin hibiscus margarita which was delicious. It was not overly sweet at all. We also got the guacamole to start as we waited for our meal. We both got the surf and turf tacos. If I'm being honest we didn't enjoy these because the charred taste was over powering and the shrimp was overcooked. We honestly should have told them but we didn't want them to feel like we didn't want to pay for them, but at 20 per order for three tacos, they need to be banging. With that being said the birria quesadilla was the best thing that we had all night. A little pricy at 17 dollars but at least it was yummy. Only thing was the meat was not distributed evenly, so some bites were better than other.
I would return if I was in the area but not great enough for the 45minute...
