got some takeout here last night- the first time I've eaten food in this town from a locally-owned restaurant that I wasn't left angry by the quality of the food (also, Wright's, Daybreak Diner)- i mean to tell you, the food in this town is Terrible- i'm not joking, you may as well eat at one of the chain joints because all of the local restaurants are just bad-
ANYWAY, this place was doing a land office business on a Sunday evening, so the locals think it's pretty good, (not really a recommendation, because the locals also love the Chinese buffet and it is nothing but hot garbage in there) and i have to say the food that we received was well-prepared and flavorful-
esp that salsa verde, Mmm Mmm-
and, fresh made corn tortillas, in-house-
the bar has a nice selection of Mexican beers but the booze selection is a little on the weak side, this ain't a cocktail bar this is a getting drunk in a Mexican restaurant bar, their sole concession to top shelf tequila is a lone bottle of Patron, meme booze at it's finest, well, this is Duncan middle-of-nowhere Oklahoma, after all-
so, finally, i found some decent Tex-Mex in this town outside of Taco Casa!
you should eat here, it's on the east side of...
Read moreI'm new to the area, and trying different places all the time. This one caught my eye, so a couple days ago, I gave it a try. I was glad to see a favorite dish on the menu. One I've had many times in different restaurants. I'm in my mid-50s, and have enjoyed Tex-Mex food all my life. But this was so hot I had trouble eating it! It had WAY too much red pepper in it! I love spicy food, but this was over loaded!!! It wasn't just spicy, it was burning to the point of tears! I literally had to wipe my mouth out with paper towels when I returned to my car! The heartburn lasted all night!!! Regardless of what I took for it. I don't see this as an oversight. Nor an accident. I've cooked in restaurants myself! NO ONE uses that much red pepper in any dish!!! I'm not the type to cause a scene. I treat everyone with kindness, regardless of their behavior. I don't know why my order was made this way. I am certain I'll NEVER go back! I've been enjoying this type of food since my childhood in the 1970's, and in all those years, in all the restaurants all over the Southwestern U.S. I have NEVER had a dish served that had so much red pepper in...
Read moreThis is the second time I've eaten at a sit-down restaurant in Duncan since moving to the area, and I think it will be my last (the other was the Chuckwagon, also avoid at all costs). My daughter wanted to come here for her bday so there were 7 of us on a Thursday evening. I ordered the Special Dinner so I could get a sample of several different items. Every item in my dish was insulting bland, aside from the ground beef which was simply disgusting. They even messed up the salsa, which tasted more like marinara and (I'm not even kidding here) actually had oregano in it. No one at our table was happy with their meal.
The waiter was a nice guy, but so softspoken that we could barely hear him.
I will say the place was clean, but I'd take a little more grime if it meant I could get some edible food. I will never return here, it is an insult to cuisine to call this place...
