After glancing through the reviews, we decided to visit and get the Bar-B-Q, not the Mexican. After looking at the menu, we should have left then. Unfortunately, we stayed. What were the clues in the menu? Any restaurant, that is not a chain (and, really, even then), that has this many diverse items on a menu, can't make any of the dishes well, much less great. This held true, today.
There were so many types of food offered. BBQ, American, seafood, steaks, and the largest offering was Mexican. (we had seen the abysmal reviews for the Mexican food)
The ribs were extremely undercooked, with no rub or sauce. I think they were dry baked. I tried to eat them but couldn't get past 2 small bites. The chopped beef was a mixture of huge pieces, a couple of shreds and predominantly, the waste. (fat, gristle, etc)
The sausage, basically Echrich, had to be oven baked. The sliced beef was.... Completely flavorless. It had a smoke ring that my husband thought had to have been some sort of chemical coloring. It didn't taste like smoked meat. It didn't taste like beef. Literally, nothing.
The green beans were the same. We could see seasoning and bacon. But they were little rubber sticks of nothing.
The pinto beans were hard, bitter and believe it or not... Crunchy.
Worst, was the potato salad. There were dried out, crusty areas where it had set uncovered for who knows how long. I didn't notice that until I had tasted it. The taste was definitely off.
What was edible? The toast, the okra and the pickle. For $50.
I wish we hadn't just passed this place up. I wish we had run the other way.
The way my stomach is cramping I hope we live to regret it. Either way, we already have the regret.
TLDR: Prices to high, food was horrible. Now, I'm...

Once a month I treat myself to a decent meal with a beverage of my choice. There are exactly 2 locations I can accomplish both, and La Taquería was one of them, formerly the best.
No longer. While the beverage was tasty, the dish I always order is a chimichanga filled with steak, covered by a delicious cheese sauce. When it arrived, I was delaying satisfaction of the delicious savory steak with the fine, rich creamy sauce. There was a "queso" beside the square, allegedly fried, chimichanga. I ate the guacamole first, it does not age nor carry well. I had a few bites of the beans and rice, standard TexMex, sustaining and tasty. But when I finally broke open the very soft chimichanga, and pulled out a piece of steak, I found it to be almost as tough as leather!
This is NOT the experience I have enjoyed here, in the same off-prime time period, for 3 years. I will hesitate to return, unless I just want an innocuous frozen drink and perhaps some guacamole and chips. Do not order anything with steak, it is now not only the cheapest cut of beef, but also the least well-prepared.

Read moreThe restaurant was understaffed the night I visited. The tables were pretty full with a constant line of people coming into the door and only 2 wait staff. The greeter had to start waiting tables too. Even though they were busy we received our food in a timely manner. This restaurant offers Chuck Wagon BBQ and Mexican foods. You are given complimentary salsa and chips when ordering food. The salsa has a bit of a kick to it and it's very good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it came with 2 sides. Be aware that there is an extra charge if you want a baked potato or a salad. It's over $5 extra or a baked potato! The food was good but a little bit salty for my taste. I would probably never order it again. Next time I'm in the area, I will try some...
