After attending the Duncan Coin Show, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when we decided to stop by this restaurant. Despite being labeled as a BBQ place, it seemed to offer more Mexican food options.
From the moment we arrived, the greeting was lackluster, with an attitude that felt more like "yeah yeah, I'll find you a seat" than a warm welcome. There was only one waitress attending to the entire restaurant, which made the service understandably slow. However, the owner (or who I assumed to be the owner) was present but not actively helping to ease the load.
The waitress seemed rushed, moving on to the next table before we even finished ordering. The salsa provided was nothing more than blended tomatoes—lacking any flavor or heat. My husband ordered the fried catfish, fries, and hush puppies, but the fish was rubbery and lacked seasoning. I opted for corn tacos, which were decent; the meat was tender and had some good flavoring. Unfortunately, the rice and beans served alongside were quite terrible.

Read moreReally weird place. Buddies and I wanted Mexican food so decided to go to a place called La Taqueria, only to arrive and it was called Chuckwagon BBQ. Located in a run down strip mall. It definitely doesn’t look appealing from the outside but when you walk in it’s a cool vibe. Wasn’t crowded, seemed to just be popular with the locals. According to the host, it’s two places merged together and serves Tex-Mex cuisine. Our waiter was attentive and food came out quickly. It was surprisingly good and we all had a great meal, except for one of our buddies who found hair in his food. They gave him the meal free of charge. I read a lot of bad reviews about this place regarding the barbecue, but our Mexican food was good. I had the carne street tacos and it was phenomenal. Their salsa is homemade and delicious. Would I come back? If I ever had reason to be in Duncan, then yes. But that might not...
Read moreI'm not going to say the food is terrible, though the burgers are very subpar. The one thing about this place is that for a BBQ restaurant they dont really have any BBQ selections. The menu is comprised of mainly Mexican food, burgers, sandwiches (some of which are BBQ), and other items like chicken strip baskets and such. In my opinion if you are going to be a restuarant that advertises itself as a BBQ dining experience then you should consider having a good selection of BBQ on the menu. Other than that the food, outside of the burgers, is pretty good. My mother really likes their catfish, my wife likes the chicken strips, and I think the chimichanga is really good. But again, none of those items are really standard BBQ...
