Gilbert's Kitchen — Restaurant in Dundee Township

So I had a coworker suggest this place for lunch one day. Telling me how it was a bit famous in the West Dundee area. So sure, I went, ordered just a generals chicken and egg rolls, nothing special. I got back to work and ate. Let me tell you first things first, too much sauce. I mean my god, if you want to taste sauce sauce sauce! This is for you. So you know, whatever, I’ll just keep the rest of the rice(not much) separate. Chicken was okay, veggies were meh, rice was rice and so the egg rolls. Your typical dry, over fried, cheap Chinese rolls. Everything was so meh! Went back to work, coworker asked, and guess what I said. “Yeah......MEH???” (Shoulder Shrug) lol

But, I am reading how it has new management now. Pretty sure they need to let someone else take over, preferably some one who hasn’t grown up in America and understands traditional Chinese food. Sorry, both thumbs down...

the best Chinese food around ! I am not kidding. No place to sit and eat, it’s take out only. Tell them if you are gonna eat in the car, they will give you utensils. I love this place. Amazing fried rice, scrumptious crab Rangoon… soups all amazing, Mongolian beef has set the bar for all others… general Tao chicken, brilliant, as is the orange chicken. I could go on and on.. it is a hole in the wall Chinese place, but it’s clean clean clean. Very affordable, big servings too. They are so friendly, and pack food up so it stays hot! Cant give 0 stars. I've been eating here since I was a kid. The food used to be top notch! I ordered a couple of days ago for delivery and was so disappointed! I was at work and they delivered without utensils, chopsticks or spoon for my hot and sour soup. The sweet and sour combo was edible but couldn't eat rice without any utenciles! I called and he said "you didn't order any". It's not rocket science, what used to be a great business has fallen into "I'm so glad that I didn't bring the people here that I boasted about this place to"! The sweet and sour sauce had 3 pieces of pineapple, pepper pieces in a large. Not even a joke, picture to prove. Will never...
