So my fiancé and I have been going here often on for three years I myself have been going there longer but the past year we have been going at least once a month or more. We also bring the kids we usually order surf and turf for everybody fillet and lobster and have never had a problem with the steaks until this last time when we sat down and we all ordered the same thing, we all ordered them the same way also medium for the steak, the lady takes our order and we get the steak and cut into it and it’s rare is rare can be so then I cut mine and the other states on the table. I’ll bring the tension of the waitress who says oh I’m sorry I’ll bring it back and then collect all four steaks on one plate to bring them back and cook them some more , so after a time of waiting we get the steaks back again same steaks and they are still rare. I bring it to the manager on a plate by the front door. I don’t say anything other than show him the plate with a piece of the steak cut in half and ask him I would like you to tell me what this looks like , he looks up at me and says it looks like it’s rare. I said yes that’s what I thought that’s after your cook cooked it twice so tell me how this is my fault when I order four fillets, all medium we all got the same exact dinner yet they cannot cook it correctly twice, and still not correct Bring it to the attention of the manager. He agrees it’s not correct yet they don’t want to take them off my bill. I consider myself a food critic as I eat at every top restaurant I can find throughout Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I had no problem, paying as long as the food is good, and to be honest, I have never written a bad review or had an issue like this ever , I would have thought that they would have taken care of this correctly instead of expecting us to eat this due to this I will never go there again and my bill is always two to $300 plus the tip I would not recommend this to anybody as far as getting steak only because if they screw it up, you’re still paying for it it could’ve been the waitress never put in that we ordered all four medium. I made sure to bring it to her attention right away and after two more attempts they still brought them to the table incorrectly, so why would this on any level be my fault never again I’ve eaten here before and the food was great but when you’re going to spend $300 on food Plus drinks I would expect it to be what you’re paying for and as far as management they need to learn how to handle...

We had a waitress(Mariana) that acted like we weren’t there, like was avoiding us! She took our drink order and disappeared for 30 minutes! When she finally came back, my husband said teasingly we thought you forgot about us! She actually replied”I had to go the bathroom like most people!!!” What? That’s what you reply with? How unprofessional…. When she took our order, she was stone cold to us. My MIL asked for the 1/2 rack of ribs and she asked if they had baked potatoes yet. The waitress replied “no”. Didn’t offer to tell us what other kind of potato they had, just stood there. My MIL had to ask if they had mashed. The other 3 of us ordered burgers. We waited and waited and waited, no food for another hour. My MIL had coffee and we had water and tea. She never came back and checked in us to see if we wanted any refills even though she refilled the ladies coffee next to us. In the meantime another table of 3 came in and she took their order and disappeared again. We could see our food sitting under the heat lamps but she waited until the party of 3’s meals were ready before she brought ours out at the same time as theirs. It was almost an hour before we got our food. The coffee was cold, the burgers had no seasoning but were cooked fine just not hot from sitting too long (fries weren’t hot either). I asked if my MIL could have some some rib wipes and she replied they should be on there. My MIL told her there are none. Waitress said I’ll get some and when she came back with them put them in the side of the table and half of them fell on the floor. She had no intention of picking them up so I said “I’ll get them” and she just walked off. When we were done eating, once again, she had disappeared so we had to ask the bus boy if he could get is some Togo containers and find our waitress to get the check . He was the best part of the whole place! Very pleasant, kind, helpful and professional! Absolutely THE worst service we’ve ever had, will not be returning. That waitress should not be working there!!!! I would not have given her a penny for a tip, unfortunately my husband was too kind and gave her 10%. He said that was the lowest tip...

I went with a group from work for our Christmas Dinner. I have very mixed feelings after dinning here last evening. First let me say the food is good. The others in my group all agreed that it was good to very good. But we all also agreed that it was not great. That settled we have to look at the price. For what we got, most of us felt it was over priced. I ordered the Porterhouse medium rare. I added the Blue cheese crust. The steak was cooked correctly and the topping was very good. It was listed as a 22 oz steak. I really doubt that it was that large and at 28.95 I had thought that I would be taking some home for my lunch today. I also ordered the French Onion Soup. I would rate it 7 out of 10. I would order again. One of my co-workers ordered the Half Slab of Ribs. She really liked the flavor but said she would have like them a bit more tender. Another co-worker ordered the WOOD-ROASTED GRECIAN CHICKEN. She said it was wonderful.

Now some negative comments. A co-worker asked for a new glass feeling that the one given was not clean. The server replaced it, but on return explained that the glasses were clean but over time the dishwasher had pitted the glassware so when you felt the glass it seemed to have "spots" on it. Indeed, examining my water glass I could see this type of wear on the outside and also on the inside. I really am floored that a place like this would not replace "damaged" glassware. If they are unwilling or unable to replace their worn glassware, I have to wonder where else they cut corners? That alone makes me think twice about returning.

The place was busy and is a popular dinning spot. Perhaps I am being picky, but why should accept something that at least to me, is lower than my expectations?

The server was polite and overall prompt and did not complain when we told him (up front) that we would like separate checks.

Will I ever return here? Yes if my group decides to meet here again. Go on my own? ...

Update: August 4th. Went to Jimmy’s Char house today. Our waiter was very intentive and did a very good job. Ordered my usual Ruben actually came with plenty of fries. Also my wife got the filet mignon sliders. Also very good and what was happy with the fries. Also updated pictures. Five star service on August 4th. My wife and I were coming back home after dropping off our daughter at the airport. It was right off the highway so we stopped in for dinner. I had a taste for a Ruben and I’ve had the Rubens there before which are excellent. So of course, I ordered my Ruben with fries very skimpy on the fries thoe the Reuben was awesome, my wife ordered a steak and she forgot they do not have baked potatoes, which I don’t understand for a place that serve steaks not having baked potatoes. Had the Saganaki for appetizer which was good. For dinner the place was not that busy our server He was just OK. Seems like he got lost a lot. Had to look for him for more drinks. we waited forever for our chech looks like he came back from the kitchen wiping his mouth so he’s probably eating, That’s why he wasn’t around. If it wasn’t for the Ruben and the Saganaki 4 Stars we would probably would go elsewhere. In the last couple years, the menu got smaller and the food is not for the better.

Quick and Easy!! I stopped in at Jimmy's Charhouse during a business trip to the Elgin Illinois area. I was staying close by at the Country Inn and Suites and was looking for a place close by to eat. Jimmys Charhouse is a small chain of Steakhouses in the Greater Chicago area. At the time of this review, I had heard that one of the locations had recently closed. The title of my review is Quick and Easy, this is the best way to describe my experience. My trip was a solo one and I was looking for a quick and relatively healthy meal. I ordered the soup of the day which was a minestrone soup which had a good soup base and veggies inside. I could not tell if the veggies were fresh or frozen. Either way, it was a nice bowl of soup, nothing bad or nothing special, just a nice bowl of homemade soup. My main course consisted of a small filet mignon, cooked medium rare with steamed veggies on the side. The steak was flavourful and a good-sized portion. The veggies were steamed just right without being too mushy. Overall a good quick and easy meal, nothing special but I wasn't looking to be wowed that night. The service was good, and I was sat right away in the main dining room. The restaurant was quite busy so it shows that people do go there to eat.

We love to get a special meal from Jimmy Charhouse a few times a year. We have really enjoyed our times dining in as well as picking up and lounging at home. Last night we had filet lignin with lobster, lamb chops, Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, French Onion soup and a seafood mix that was in a vegetable soup. I have tried many of their dishes and now I always get the lamb chops - they always do them right. Last night was no exception - they were full of flavor and juicy. The shrimp Alfredo is always great as well, and last night did not disappoint either. The filet mignon was great as well. The French onion soup is always better in the restaurant as it doesn’t travel well. The seafood soup was more like a heavy vegetable soup with some little bits of seafood - just didn’t seem like a great thought out dish. The one item that did not taste good was the lobster. It tasted like it had been frozen and overcooked. It lacked flavor and you could taste the water in it. I would recommend dining in, but if you want to pickup, I highly recommend the lamb chops and the fettuccine - both are always winners.
