Such an amazing energy and ambiance. However completely got taken advantage of tonight. Asked the server for a tequila soda, I specified anejo or something older if you have any. Was given a 2 oz pour? , im a bartender, i never ASKED for a double. And my bill was $26 for this “well” tequila soda in my mind, not knowing I was given a serving of a $135 bottle of tequila. Thus realizing i was charged an extremely high end tequila which i had no idea I was? The tequila was great quality, however would have been nice to know. I live in downtown Chicago, i have NEVER paid $26 for a tequila soda in the epicenter of the city? I could have had clase azul or 42 elsewhere? and i certainly wouldn’t have watered down a Codigo Anejo with soda water?! A bottle retails at $130 and thats what my server chose for me? Not kind at all? Same thing for my friend, he had a $17 Hendricks and soda, she told him the soda and the 2 oz pour made it that price?! You can get 2 Hendricks sodas across the street for this price. This place is gorgeous, very elegant and incredibly decorated, just accommodate those who don't like seven ingredient craft cocktails? Give them a warning? List it in your liquor menu? Under Hendricks within your liquor menu it says $8 for a 1oz pour, the 2 oz section is left blank… ? id love to know why the server gave all of us 2 oz pours? I should have kept having craft cocktails for these prices, two craft cocktails was one tequila soda?

Come here but DO NOT ORDER OUTSIDE OF LISTED COCKTAILS. Order directly off the menu. Another friend of mine warned me of the same thing...

Update (May 2024) to my previous review: it’s now been over two years and this place is still awesome. Since last review I discovered they serve bourbon cherry cookies from a local bakery and these bags of potato chips, both are AMAZING! Joey, Kelly, Tom, Morgan, and Emily make such a great staff. I’ve found that the regulars are super friendly and I have made many new friends here. The whole downtown East Dundee area has really come alive in recent years and TDS is definitely the gem in the mix! If you want a great rum drink, ask for “Rock Tiki #2”. It was created by Dana last summer and man is it amazing. (Caution, it’s strong). I discover the Distance Social last summer. I came in for a drink with a friend and I instantly felt at home. I came back the next night and as I walked in they remembered my name. I’m knew at that moment that I had finally found my “Cheers” bar. I’ve been coming here ever since and even joined their 100 Proof club. The vibe is amazing, the drinks are amazing, but most of all the staff rocks. Have enjoyed bourbon flights on occassion here and have always enjoined the atmosphere. Attended the Whiskey and Cigar Social last night 4/25 and it was awesome. The staff were great as always. The distributors on hand dispensing and explaining their whiskeys was educational to a relative novice. Hearing some back stories and history on their distilleries was perfect while enjoying the samples. Talking with the gentlemen from The Cigar Lounge as I'm just getting into cigars was timely and will be doing some business with him. I ordered 10 bottles and look forward to enjoying them as well as others as we found out where to aquire these spirits. I hope this becomes an annual event as I ran into some folks I hadn't...
