I have yet to try the bakery part but every time I have gone I’ve seen individuals or small groups of friends enjoying their sweet breads and coffee. It usually smells like good Latino sweet bread, yum! There’s always people there, no matter what time/day I’ve gone but the tables and space make for it not feel crowded. That’s always nice! I have enjoyed every meal I’ve had here. I’ve had traditional Hispanic breakfasts with my daughter. Which I’m picky about but they did a great job, and served me a nice quantity of avocado which I loved caused other places show a nice amount on the menu picture and serve a skinny slice but they didn’t :) i also LOVEED their sopa de res, which I also don’t enjoy at restaurants but one day I went with my dad and the place smelled so good, like fresh soup, and I enjoyed the whole thing. My other favorite from this place, and also why I recommend everyone to come here is their churrasco con tortilla de harina!!! Or just say tortilla de harina con carne asada. My fav from this place. Must try! I’m Guatemalan by the way and I’m not a fan of places that make Guatemalan/central American food but this place is special...
Read moreMe and my mom were drawn in to the small town cafe and bakery today by the amazing smell of fresh bread coming from it and we are glad we went. From the empanadas to the Colombian cheese bread to the sweet vanilla bread it was all delicious. The empanadas came with red and green hot sauces which both tasted great. The bakery itself looks very clean inside and has a cute modern look to it. Although seating may not be available to use right now there was a lot of space for seating and it wasn’t cramped at all. The total for the two empanadas and the two breads was $5 and some change. The woman that helped us today was very nice and patient. She explained to me which items were freshly baked and i was surprised by how many of the baked goods were were freshly made today. I would definitely recommend this bakery. We will be...
Read moreI have passed this place, each time I go to Dunellen for the UPS store. After dropping off some things to ship, I decided to visit Small Town Cafe and Bakery. Could not have been more disappointed. Ordered two chicken empanadas and two beef empanadas. Instead of selling something that actually had chicken or beef, it was 95% potato with a little shreds of meat. They might as well have called them potato empanadas. Flavorless and honestly....quite misleading. I am not sure why this place is misleading its customers but I can tell you that their actions will lead to yet another vacant storefront in Dunellen. Shame on you for deceiving...
