Dunmore Bucktown Diner — Restaurant in Dunmore

Let me preface this by saying I worked in food service for a number of years. I have NEVER seen or been treated by a server so poorly in my life. My girlfriend and I were taken care of by a young lady with tan skin and dark hair (she never once mentioned her name.) When we arrived it was seat-yourself. We sat down, and in a timely fashion our server came over. We were asked what we wanted to drink after my girlfriend orders her drinks the server is already running away while I’m telling her my order. She comes back soon after to drop off the drinks and says she’ll be back to take our order. Timeliness however, was not the issue, she came over asked us what we wanted and gave us no time to intervene in telling her what we wanted. My girlfriend ordered pancakes and intended on ordering bacon and eggs alongside but was cut off before having the opportunity. I ordered a Rueben and had to stop the young lady as she was walking away to ask for cheese on my fries. My girlfriend gets her food a while before me which is understandable. I understand kitchen issues and wouldn’t put food prep time or quality of the food on the servers. As I said the food was okay. But to drop my food, offer me coffee and never return until dropping the check on the table while I’m still eating was blatantly rude. I intended on spending more on dessert following my meal but was discouraged from doing so. There’s very little I expect of a server and as someone who did it for many years I know it can be stressful. At the very least, I expect you to take my WHOLE order and fake a smile during the process even if it’s busy. Furthermore, allow me to eat my meal before dropping the check on the table. It may sound petty, but I’ve had servers in the past that were high, forgot items I’d ordered, had a really long wait time, etc, but to be treated poorly and then see you turn to the table beside me and greet them with a smile has discouraged my patronage to this business entirely. Might I say in closing, this is the first negative review...

My nephew had a Dr's appointment on Meade Street, and we would always stop for something to eat afterward. My goggle maps was opened because I was having trouble with it and since we were both tired of Burger King and Wendy's and I clicked on restaurants and this was the first place that came up and I'm so glad it did. I always liked diners and small restaurants like this. I feel as they have a good tasting menu and that they sure did. We both were very hungry we didn't eat all day and it was 4:30pm. We got a parking space right in front of the door. When you walk in, there are 3 steps hand rails on both sides. At the top, there are tables and booths on both sides and a long counter straight ahead with stools. Left side on floor was there breakfast, lunch and dinner menu specials. Everything sounded good. Their pictures on their menus made me even more hungry. I ordered stuffed mushrooms, which were 2 lumps of crabmeat with slices of long caned mushrooms inside, a ny strip steak with a baked potato, side salad which was iceberg lettuce and sliced tomatoes which I love, and a small cup of chicken noodle soup which was out of this world. My nephew had soup also, and chicken parm with seemed like homemade spaghetti noodles it was excellent. Everything was very good. The waiter, which I'm assuming was the owner, was very nice. The diner is clean, the atmosphere was really nice. We were so happy to find this place, we will be stopping every time we're in that area. We're both not from around there. If you want a good place to eat, you have to stop here. I'm telling you, you won't be...

I wish I could give negative stars... I'm so disappointed, they used to be amazing I just left and I should've said something there but it was so bad I thought there was no point.... I got a taco salad that was put into the shell where I couldn't eat it, like it was so packed it would've made a huge mess, the chicken on it tasted funny...my bf got a Reuben and it was cold, they put that together weird also. Once I got home I went to eat some of my salad and lo and behold the chicken wasn't fully cooked!! I'm never going back there it was $40 and we didn't even eat it, oh we got stuffed mushrooms with crab appetizers but it was 2 kind of crab cakes I think, with a slice of mushroom on the bottom lol weird experience, bad, we got a pile of apple pie to go...yes, a pile, I wish I could add pics as I have all the evidence right here. Horrible...
