I visited today for the first time after hearing about this place.. Atmosphere was okay and the service was pretty decent, but the burgers were served with wet buns that dissolved into the burger with way too much ingredients piled up in the sandwich burger.. I felt like I was in the episode of Boondocks when Grandad opens up his own restaurant and gives the whole town the Itis.. The Men’s bathroom smells like a sewer line busted with sewage smell all through the rear of the restaurant by the bathrooms that almost made me vomit.. I saw a Caucasian couple eating near the bathroom and I couldn’t believe they could eat that close to the bathroom with that smell ravishing the whole rear of the restaurant!! I actually looked to see if I had sharted in my clothes that smell had me sick and confused I felt like I was in a chemical attack in Iraq.. I spoke to the owner about this and politely finished my meal with my family and left.. I probably will not come back again until I hear they’ve fixed the sewage problem which is more than likely never.. Other than that it’s an okay place like any other burger joint not really anything special or different from most burger joints.. I apologize if my review of my experience offends anyone, but I truly gave an honest review to help this business thrive and get better for the sake of the community who benefit from having different food choices in the bland area of Dunn. So it has great potential, but needs...
Read moreSo let me start off by saying the food wasn’t the problem. And was actually really good! But I will not be going back and here’s why. I placed an order at 6:07 for to go. A chicken salad, a burger, and fries. That’s it. It took just over 40 minutes to complete the order. The super sweet young lady upfront couldn’t give me any real time estimate from the start and that was the first red flag. So I waited. At first they didn’t have two of the salad ingredients but the owner/manager ran to food lion next door and picked it up, I can respect that. How ever when my order was finally completed they didn’t have ranch for the salad, so I asked for honey mustard and received two regular mustards, ceasar dressing? and the saddest bit of ranch, so at that point I am truly not a happy customer. Lastly the employees had such a poor attitude just moping around with no sense of urgency, (other then the one cook who’s clearly overwhelmed) very poor attitudes, fed up and clearly would rather be anywhere else you could see it on their faces. And there seemed to be no real system to anything, zero organization, just chaotic for no reason because they weren’t even busy, there was literally 3 tables and a couple to go orders. So much potential and even more room for improvement hopefully they get it together because again the food was not...
Read moreI’m not sure why I’ve waited this long to leave a review, considering how many people I have raved to about this establishment. Mama Ruth’s has the best burgers in town, hands down, no contest. Nothing is remotely comparable. I cannot order a burger from anywhere else because it leaves me disappointed and remorseful.
Now I would like to talk about the staff/owners. I believe it is family run but I could be wrong. That is the impression I received. Regardless, they have been kind to me every visit and everyone I’ve spoken to in regards to Mama Ruth’s has said the same. You wouldn’t think a restaurant would come up often in casual talk, and normally it wouldn’t….but when a place gives you something to eat and the first bite is almost euphoric, you can’t help but tell someone else about it so they too can experience it.
I am not exaggerating, this place is amazing. Get the inside out or the Mac burger if you want a recommendation. If you don’t like buns, get the CJ’s grilled cheese and...
