The Cornerstone has a lot of potential to be a great restaurant. The pastry chef is awesome. The host Bobby was great. The owner is a nice guy, but he doesn't understand he has to actually pay his employees. He also is not very professional especially with his employees. The manager works extremely hard. He could make the place better than it is with all the hours he puts in, but he needs to see what the customers want, and the employees need. He tried to say it's under new management, but he still hired some of the same messy unprofessional employees from before. The owner should not have allowed the same dishonest old employees to be rehired because that is how he lost his new employees which were very good employees. He should take some business classes to understand what his employees and customers would like. He serves food from Turkey and not out of having a different culture to enjoy their food but out of ignorance. The chef is also the manager. There are good things about the place like the beverages and the pastries. Like I said they have great potential, but they need some more professional guidance and education especially about employee labor laws and payroll. The favorite employee is the waitress Brandy I've watched not tip the host and is overbearing and not kind to the other employees or customers. Sometimes she's a waitress, sometimes she's the manager even though they hired someone else as the manager but all the time she is the one who's actually...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the cornerstone this weekend. I had a great experience the first trip and than a bad experience on Tuesday. First, I came on a Sunday and the jazz band was lovely! We had great service from Randy. She was attentive and could tell she cared about our experience, because that is what dining out is, an experience. We had a Falafal and Gyro, SUCH FLAVOR. I could tell the chef knew his Mediterranean seasoning. YUMMY! Now my good experience stopped here. Next visit, I came in Tuesday for breakfast and a younger gal (who greeted me) holding my glass of water on the rim while she brought it out. yuck. Let that slide, another girl came out in a rush, not listening to my order, and rushing my group. We were the only table. We ordered three All American breakfast and all Over Medium eggs. All of which came out Over Hard. Hash browns raw uncooked. Server didn't come back out to check on the food, so we didn't even have to chance to let the chef no of the problem. The young girl dropped our check without a word said. The 2 girls must not have been more than 18 years old, maybe no experience in restaurants. A shame, a great experience on Sunday for lunch, poor for breakfast. Maybe I will come back when Randy is serving and the lunch Chef is around. I will come back and update. I give this 4 star credit to all the staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off they have espresso. If youāre like me and coming through town, that is important.
So there we were camping for my birthday with plans of hiking castle craigs once we woke up. We knew it would be cold. We had cupcakes. We were prepared!!
We woke to frost and sub 30 degree temps. The dogs were cold. And we wanted coffee but didnāt want to make it. So we loaded up to see what this little town of Dunsmuir was like, if we would have to fight Shasta locals for a hot cup of joe or smile politely at old loggers that would recognize our weakness to the cold and judge us.
We found neither. Instead we found a cute clean downtown and the cornerstone cafe!
The cornerstone cafe!! Itās cute! The music is perfect the espresso is delectable and when we got there they were pulling fresh pecan cinnamon rolls out of the oven as if they were expecting us. They are bright and warm and there bathroom is perfect for morning necessities. They even surprised us with a candle for my birthday. The barista/ waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. What a perfect place to enjoy a...
