Bliss Small Batch Creamery — Restaurant in DuPont

We’ve been coming here since they opened in July. Love their ice cream typically, but today I must write this review. Never had an issue with them before but today, was different. They opened at 2, so went in right at 2. I ordered a vegan flavor for myself & my daughter and was told if was “too frozen solid” to serve and give it like 10 minutes, we could have it. Our daughter was bummed, but we waited. The teen behind the counter was very friendly and sweet during the entire encounter, however my daughter has food allergies and was hurt a little when she told her “can you get a regular flavor instead?” Whatever. So the teen put the box of vegan ice cream on the waffle cone griddle to melt it and like 10 minutes later, she scraped the melted parts around the edges off and gave it to us😳 and was told not to worry because they “do it all the time.” I had the strawberry flavor (have had it multiple times during the summer, no issue then), and within a few hours, I became VERY sick to my stomach. I’ll spare the details, but it was not nice. I didn’t think of it at the time, but repeated melting & re-freezing like that can cause a serious bacterial growth. They need to find a new procedure to serve their ice cream, because they are making people...

I love this place but today was not the best experience. I usually order fudgy brownie and salted caramel ice cream and it is usually really good but today the salted caramel was runny and melting before it even got served to me, I had told the server it was melting and he said it was a bit runny today. In my opinion he should let me know before serving it to me so I could of got two scoops of fudgy brownie instead of having my 1st scoop melting right away. Another problem was the fudgy brownie also wasn’t tasting right compared to my previous couple times coming here, even asked my fiance to try it and he agreed that it wasn’t as sweet and kind of tasted “funky” and “tart” almost like it was going bad. This ice cream shop was literally the best I've been to!! They had such an amazing variety of gluten-free and dairy free ice cream, alongside regular good ol' dairy cow cream!!! I purchased a scoop of coffee and a scoop of the honey lavender. Both are freakin awesome. I also tasted and fell deep in love with the ginger lemon. Holy moly!! Katie, the gal scoopin, was a kind, pleasant, and energetic human. Thank you, Katie!!! This is the place for ice cream that will propel your taste buds into multiple dimensions!!
