I went to the CiderJAM event to find out how it was basically just a marketing ploy to get more people in to buy drinks. The reason why I am giving the place one star is because when I went to the bar to get my second drink with my pre-purchased ticket the guy serving me was very rushed and careless with my drink as he spilt it all over my hands! So now I have sticky cider all over my hands and he didn't even make an effort to apologize. I was so displeased with the service that I wanted to see his boss/manager. This fat red-curly haired dweeb had the nerve to tell me HE was the boss. The person I was with told me later after I had walked away to wash up that he told the others at the bar to not serve me anymore. We were intending on leaving after that drink as it was a lame venue. Apparently if you react to having drinks dumped on you, you are considered drunk.
And the response was obviously written by the so called boss who did make the effort to offer a towel after pouring cider on me...AFTER he soaked up all the spilt cider from the bar first. Good to know the cleanliness of your bar comes before customers and all we get is a wet towel! You're also a liar about my rudeness. All I ever said was what I had previously stated. YOU were the rude one in the situation. You need to reconsider your...
Read moreWe love trying new breweries, especially ones that are pet friendly since we often have one or both of our little dogs with us. It's even better when we can take them inside a place that's air conditioned!
We came in here this past Sunday around 3pm, it was fairly busy, but not overly crowded. I like beer, but a cider spot is even more enticing to me. I was so excited to see how many flavors they had! I believe they had 16 available on our visit, but there were also a couple of beers on tap.
We each went for a flight, for $12 we could try 5 ciders. I tend to like sweeter ciders, but they had a nice mix.
I really liked "Rhize Up" with it's ginger taste, but wished it was a tad sweeter like one of my favorite cider spots (Citizen Cider) in Vermont has. I tried a sip of "Cherry Tart," good, but a bit TOO sweet. I liked "Cardinal Cin," with it's unique cinnamon flavor. "Pearanormal" and "Mojito" were also quite good!
They sell 6 packs of their ciders, t-shirts, hats, hoodies, pint glasses, dog collars and more.
We had a fun time here and can't wait...
Read moreFamily and dog friendly like many breweries in Durham are. Great place to hang out with friends or to take guests who are visiting and want to experience Durham. They have trivia night on Thursdays, which is always fun. They can get crazy busy on weekends when they have food trucks and I've had to sit on the ground. If they had more seating it would be a 5 star for sure.
Another thing that made this a 4 star instead of 5 is the fact that more than one person had their dog off leash and one even tried to eat my daughter's food! BCCW should be more forward about making sure owners have their dogs under control while they're on the property. Also I found poop in the grass, which is not cool being that so many people had to sit on the ground to eat and drink. None of this would be a problem if there was more seating!
I'm not a huge fan of ciders, I prefer a good stout or porter, but many of their brews are really delicious. The Sweet Caroline and Cardinal Cin are my favorites. Ciders are really sweet so I have to take it in small portions. Anyways,...
