Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Durham

It saddens me to have to post this but it was my experience it took place on Saturday, February 26, 2022. I have gone to this location for many years and I have never had a problem the customer service is always good and the lady at that location that is the manager is just priceless. I moved away from Durham and was actually passing through and thought about getting some chicken from this location. I went to the line everybody was very nice and I paid for my chicken. I had about an hour's drive before I got home once I arrived at home I opened the box and the chicken was "SPOILED"!! It STUCK UP my whole kitchen, I could not believe they sold it to me. I tried to call the location in Durham and it gave me a recording that the phone number had been changed. I put the chicken in the refrigerator so that I could talk to someone about it called again on Sunday and spoke to another location about the correct phone number and they said that their number had been changed and he didn't know the number. This morning I called Church's Chicken corporate office and filed a complaint they said they would pass it on to someone else who would get back in touch with me. I hope so because I do not want any customer to have that type of experience that I had I had given the chicken to my little ones to eat so I was absolutely devastated. I want to receive my money back for that bad chicken and I will never return again.

If your from Durham then you should know about Church's Chicken. This place has been a go to of mine and my family for over 20 years. My mother started to get us food from there when I was in highschool. Now I'm in my mid 30's I still stop by for their friendly service and great food. To me this place is a hidden gem of the community also very underrated for the flavorful food, and variety of new dishes. Now before we get too far into this review please keep in mind that my rating of this establishment will be based on only the food and service. For an overall rating of everything I would have to give them a 3.5 because the parking lot is a disaster and the building overall needs to to be updated. If you like hot, slightly greasy, chicken at an very affordable price this is the place for you. In comparison to places like Bojangles, KFC, and Popeye's to me Church's has the best tasting chicken hand's down. Just the right amount of spices and always fried to perfection, plus they definitely have the best biscuits in town. If you don't fall in love with their chicken I promise you will for their honey butter biscuits. So if your new to the area or live in Durham but never been to a Church's do yourself a favor and make sure to stop by for their great food and excellent value. Absolutely Awful!!! Broken Driveway Pavement, Broken Drive-thru. You had to pull up to pickup window to order. I went inside to order. 3 Working, 1guy was wearing a boot. He was very nice, but didn't need to be working in that capacity. A Lil elderly lady seemed to be in charge and they had a fry cook. There was 1 person's order in front if mine. I waited 45 mins for a 2 piece drk and a 3 piece. They had 3 pans full of chicken. I don't kno why it took them so long to bag it and give it to me other than they were filling outside orders. The drink machine was broke AND I was charged for the 3 piece and only got 2 pieces. When I complained, they kept telling abt mixed pieces which I understood and paid the 3.94 for 3 piece mxd. I only got 2 pieces. Churches needs to fix their stores, All of them, everyone you go to, something doesn't work. Hire, pay and appreciate some real managers and workers that respect and appreciate customers. For God's sake STOP cheating people!
