Mozzies Cuisine and Deli — Restaurant in Durham

I waited awhile to return… but the last two times the food has been amazing!!

I’d like to talk about my experience at Mozzies yesterday.

March 13, 2025.

Overall it was disappointing.

It wasn’t my first time there. I visited last year and the food was great.

However, yesterday I found the food mediocre at best. We both ordered wing plates.

These plates were almost $20 each and came with 5 wing sections and two sides of approximately 1-2 oz each. The price is hard to justify, especially so close to a black community.

My second issue with the wings was there was barely any sauce on them. The sauce we tried was hot honey and it was really good, like could be sold in stores lol but… there was barely any on there.

The third issue was upon arriving home we found they forgot to put the gravy on the rice. It’s not really up the street so getting a replacement isn’t really a satisfactory reimbursement because 9/10 we won’t be going to get it.

I guess my feedback is this establishment was built off the work of an amazing chef who is outsourcing his cooking a little early in my opinion. I think this is especially true for daytime hours.

This meal was $40 but felt like it was only worth 20. I’m sure that’s not the case when the chef is cooking but just in case unfortunately I won’t be returning or...

So tired of trying to support black businesses that just can't get it right.

Ordered $50 worth of food through their website at 11:30PM on Saturday. Both Google Maps and their website showed them as open until 2AM.

The order went through, and I received confirmation that the restaurant received my order and was working on it.

We pull up to pick it up, entire place is closed and locked up. Not a soul in the entire parking lot.

Bright idea.... if you're closed, stop accepting online orders. If you know you have a listing on Google Maps, make sure the information is accurate for potential customers.

And where did we end up? Going to a Mexican restaurant. Tried to keep our dollars "in the community" but as usual, our people just can't provide a smooth experience from beginning to end. Either hours listed are wrong, the location is missing or incorrect, the website is down or lists the wrong information, customer service is lacking, or they're accepting orders and payment when they aren't even open.

So...

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was my first time there so I had many questions. They were very patient and answered my questions and gave suggestions. The owner even came out and greeted me. He was very nice and personable. I ordered the turkey ribs with fries and Mac n cheese. When I got my order and the lady opened the box for me to view, before I could say anything, she told them to cook me another order of fries because SHE wasn't satisfied with the way they looked. Now that I appreciate!!! The Mac n cheese was a "No" for me. It was rather dry and old. The ribs were delicious though! I thought 3 wouldn't be enough, but I was full after eating two. Overall, the food was good. The customer service was great! I will go back some day to try some...
