Horrible experience!!!! Considering my husband and I have only experienced great treatment when dining at any Ruth Chris steakhouse locations giving us all the reasons to invite 6 more friends to join in and dine with us for the first time. We knew with all our they would experience upscale dining. Well poor judgement on our part!!! Heres our story Well I made our reservation months in advance only to wait 28 minutes to be served water and bread and another 45 to 50 minutes for our meal. This only happened because I requested from the manager who on watching at the other times we ask for bread etc. I had to literally go over to the manager to explain and ask why haven't we been served. I explained we had plans after dinner, we had been in the restaurant well over and hour and we hadn't been brought bread, after making a request to our waiter AJ and the other passing waiters and waitress with no resolve. Well after explaining our unacceptable ordeal of waiting to manager I told him we were hungry and wanted to eat. I explained we arrived at 530 and it was now 650 pm and we had a engagement to attend at 8pm. Long and behold Mr. Kirk the manager departed and 20 minutes later our cold food arrived.. . Nope! no sizzling plates, cold butter, cold sides and even the butter on the light was Luke warm. . At this point the first time visting party expectation was shattered and mine of Kirk the manager, AJ the waiter and Ruth Chris was unredeemable.
My husband and I were embarrassed because we were responsible for the couples visiting the restaurant and having spend money for unacceptable service. I can't begin to share how I tried to reason with Mr. Kirk who was filled with excuses for every response and concern I shared with him. His final words were "I'm shocked because AJ is one of our best servers. I didn't know you guys had somewhere to go. I Thought, really you are a Ruth Chris representative Mr Kirk. I then said Mr Kirk I wasn't told nor was I asked when making this reservation two months ago it is to announce the amount of time our party could spend dining in order to get good service during our visit ? Mr Kirk stares at me with a blank and unconcern look on his face. I also shared with hi and ask did you know we had to ask for our own bread, and ask for the table to be cleare? He respond because he knew we watch him watch us from the the front register. He carefully turn his when he thought we catch his eye as he periodically look on from start to finish.
I told him clearing the table occurred only at the same point our meal arrived. We literally watched our food sit in the center of the restaurant growing colder as the table was being cleared. Oh well for the company slogan "if it doesn't sizzle send it back.. We watched guest that arrived after us, eat and leave well before we ever receive our meal. I Never even received my boxed portion of my salad of which was pleasing because it was the only item served at the correct temperature. A complete disaster I tell you and very hurtful for my husband and I being long time customers.
I could sincerely hope this organization cares more about their customers and less about poor management whose filled with excuses for managerial mistakes and lack of staff etc.
In all my years of dining theres one thing I know this is not how a establishment like Ruth Chris should treat customers and not make good of the experience. Instead of a blank unconcern response lacking empathy or desire to please Mr Kirk.
In conclusion I hope Mr Kirk and his action is not a representative of the organization "If it doesn't sizzle send it back' I suppose it doesn't mean anything because Mr Kirk never offered that opportunity either to us as customer while visiting his restaurant in Durham. In closing thanks for the Sincere Abuse received Mr Kirk!!!So...
Read moreI brought my wife, daughter, and two granddaughters here to celebrate Mother's Day. We were looking forward to enjoying one another over a great meal. We certainly enjoyed one another, but the meal less than what we expected.
We had a reservation for which we arrived on time for. We were counting on being seated in the dining room in a reasonable amount of time, but after waiting serval minutes, I felt we would have to wait for a while to get seated in the dining area, so when a host offered a booth in the bar area, I accepted it. This was definitely not where we wanted to sit, but it was after 8PM and my family had held off eating earlier in the day because we were counting on enjoying our meals here. What a mistake that was!! The booth was elevated and situated right under a vent that was blowing extremely cold air down on us. I advised a host and he offered us another booth that also had a vent located directly above that table, so there was no use in moving. I had to go out to my car and get my jacket and my wife, daughter, and two granddaughters wore sweaters the entire time.
Our server was polite and reasonably attentive. Our drinks were fine, but the food...all of it that was actually hot, was average at best.
My salad was ridiculously overdressed with ranch dressing, even though I had ordered blue cheese dressing. Several items arrived luke-warm like my steak, my fire roasted corn was cold and had too much lime juice in it (sent back/removed), and my wife's mashed potatoes were luke-warm as well. My daughter and grand daughter's didn't complain but normally when they are really enjoying their meals, someone out of the bunch will say it.....no one said anything about their meals this time. My steak was average at best, nothing about the flavor wowed me or anything about our experience during this visit really impressed me.
I will end with this -- if you're going to charge upscale prices and call yourself an upscale dining establishment, then your service and food should live up to the hype. I believe my wife and daughter refrained from complaining because they didn't want to ruin the evening, and for that very reason, I didn't let the server know how I felt about the issues we had with some of the food and where we were seated. I have been here several times and this was the worst visit, but to be completely honest, I have never been that impressed with Ruth's Chris. After this experience, I get it finally....for the money, there are far better options in Durham, Cary, and Raleigh with better ambiance, food, and service. If it's up to me, I will not choose Ruth's Chris again to celebrate a...
Read moreThis is not a good place for your celebration if good service is important to you. We planned a surprise birthday event in a private room for my brother at Ruth's Chris and worked on the details over many weeks with their staff. Their event representative promised many things that were NOT DELIVERED:
First, they provided five tables instead of six. Second, there were no stools for the high top tables. Third, there were no place cards with guest names. Fourth, no one was checking coats (in December). Fifth, no one was taking drink orders during the cocktail hour. Sixth, the food for the cocktail hour was late. Seventh, the guest of honor's table was served last. Eighth, the plates provided with dinner were too small to allow sides to be put on the plate. Ninth, there was no supervision of the staff and no one checked in to see how things were going.
For a high end restaurant with such a large price tag, you would expect the best quality service to be provided.
As a New York City event coordinator (I flew in for this event), I was extremely disappointed that I had to work that night by asking the staff multiple times for things that were promised by the managers/event staff. I emailed the staff directly and they did not respond. Eventually, I was then directed to speak to their customer service department only to be disappointed again as they did not respond to three emails and several calls over three weeks to finally be told that there was nothing they could do for me after ruining my special night with my brother.
All I wanted was a chance for them to redeem themselves by inviting me back to their restaurant as...
