After seeing the movie I stopped at the ladies room on our way out and was soon very disappointed and angry.
I must use a rolling walker to ambulate and I needed to use the handicapped stall. There were large red stickers on each of the two stalls stating (this is paraphrased). "Houston, we have a problem. This shall is out of order."
I couldn't believe this! The regular stalls aren't large enough to let me bring my walker into them and I didn't want to leave it outside the door unattended. Luckily, one of my friends was with me and she watched it for me.
I'm not speaking for everyone who must use the handicapped stalls but many of us need the higher commodes, when we're lucky enough to find a stall it would be nice if there were more; we need the grab bars in order to get down and up from the commode; we need the larger spaces to accommodate our wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
It's bad enough to have to sometimes wait when someone appearing to not need the handicapped stall is using it, but for a business to block off these stalls because they need to be repaired is even more annoying.
Before ppl reply thinking these signs might have been placed recently and I'm not being fair; please don't because another woman visiting the ladies room said that these stickers have been there for WEEKS.
I know there's a staffing shortage but this issue needs to be a priority. What if someone is in a wheelchair and needed it to help transfer; or had to have someone assist them? They'd never be able to fit into a regular stall.
I reduced the previous five stars to three because of...
Read moreWe had plans for dinner and a movie...there was a 3hr wait for the Cheesecake Factory. We were an hr early for the movie so we went to It's Sugar!!!! It was PARADISE and they played "Sweet" music😊! Next, the movies....we were still hungry so half of us ordered food there😡. The food was overpriced, over-cooked, under-seasoned, the fries were good, one of our orders was incorrect. We saw the Woman King, 5stars!!! After the movie we tried our luck at the Cheesecake Factory again (2min walk around 9:30p), we got a table right away! It was my first time so ordering took some time but because it was getting late we ordered from the small menu. They close at 11p. We didn't get our food until 11:30p and had to send half of it back. Needless to say the 5 of us left around midnight disappointed and discussed with hunger headaches. They pushed tables together for us....2 of them were dirty...set up with napkins, flatware and tiny plates and dirty. The manager was asked to come to our table twice before she pulled herself away from watching the Carolina/Duke game. She was supposed to come back, after removing uneaten dishes from our table but she never did. We were the last table in the house for quite some time so there's no reason she could not come back to us and we got tired of waiting. Our server was GREAT!! He had a positive attitude throughout our whole visit! Great smile, very polite, smelled nice, very energetic to be at the end of a...
Read moreIt's hard not giving southpoint five stars, but I think I would have a problem giving that to any mall. Most of them are set up for a different time when high volume traffic at the mall was more common. This means things are spaced out and there are areas that don't have much that appeals.
That being said, it is likely the best mall in the area. They've done an incredible job of mixing local businesses with established chains, they have a prolific restaurant choice, and they're outside area is really great. It feels sort of like a park. I'll see jugglers and other artists out on the streets entertaining kids and spreading good cheer. Stores like the candy shop over towards the theater add to the atmosphere and provide a fun experience (especially because this place doesn't look like a bodega, it feels like a place that actually cares about candy).
For as old as it is, the theater is manage to stay updated looking and in good repair. sometimes I don't think they're volume is high enough, but it's usually just fine.
Their security does a great job, and it can't be easy. Though, I have seen them be rude to people a couple times, for no reason that I can think of that they should have. I'm sure some people might have some good ideas about that though, because I know I do.
So if you still want to go to the mall or just want a good meeting place, southpoint is probably...
