Visited the Thai Café IN DURHAM on 2/23/2021 and the service was horrible. I ordered my food online and was greeted by this want to be server who only knows how to treat her kind with courteous service.
Restaurants all OVER this country are going out of business and it pays for owners and servers alike to be courteous and mind the business of the customer.
An $ 11.00 lunch isn't cheap any day of the week and when I am NOT asking for a deal but to replace my meal for something I don’t want from your menu. I expect to get it. I am not expecting to be told NO WE DON”T DO THAT. She thought she had upper hand as I had already paid online. But the Asia server Brenda act as if she own the restaurant and she called all the shots. I could not believe her stance and her RUDNESS and could not wait to tell her. Then the had the audacity to another Asia customer of our dealings right in front of me. This action and her behavior spoke volumes to me. I wanted to switch out the lamb dish which was incredibly bland for the Barbecue chicken and fried rice and willing to pay the difference. The owner seemed shocked I had money on me being I paid online.
The server whispered in the owners ear, I had changed my mind about what I ordered and she said well we will give her a refund. Her intentions were obvious. She wanted to SWAY the owners decision in her favor. How rude and I asked the server her name and she asked me WHY and I told her that she was rude. She said we don’t like the fact that you called our food bland. I told her it didn’t care because I was the customer and more important you are not doing me any favors, I am paying for my food.
My food isn’t free and I am not asking for free meal. Each time I have visited this place I had to ask for silverware and this is takeout as well as napkins and this SAME ASIA CHICKEN SEEMED BOTHERED. she might be Mexican not sure BUT HER NAME IS BRENDA. I WILL TAKE MY BUYING POWER ELSEWHERE. 😶
I told the OWNER I don’t want a refund but if want give me my money back instead of a meal replacement then I will do that and go else where with my money. The owner said we WILL DO IT THIS TIME.
Will never eat her again and I will be sure to tell all I encounter as I don’t pay for rudeness and to be honest I feel her decision and attitude was racially decided because my choice isn’t never an option when I ask politely for something I don’t expect to be treated...
Read moreWe walked in at 8:15 and were seated and instead of greeting us the waitress immediately addressed us if we were aware they closed at 9:00? Of course we were but 45 minutes before close is enough time to be seated and served. We were quickly rushed by her for us to place an order and told the kitchen would close soon (if you close at 9:00 then state you actually close at 8:30 so people are not deceived when they search hours of operation). After our order was placed and she brought our food, the waitress sat in a corner on her cell phone and did not check in with us until the check was ready to be delivered. Afterwards the waitress and the rest of the staff began cleaning and stacking chairs as we finished dinner, which made us feel even more rushed and unwelcome. We left around 8:50 due to feeling uncomfortable and as soon as we stepped out, the staff turned off the lights and locked the door (guess you really don’t close at 9:00). I’ve worked in restaurants in my past and we seated guest clear up to closing time and NEVER made them feel they inconvenienced us. The service was horrible and the food was just mediocre. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The tip we left the waitress was far than she deserved. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident but our last time here was also terrible with customer service, this was our final attempt...
Read moreI had given up on Thai cafe. I use to be a big fan of their Pad Thai and it had gotten way too laden in sweet sauce. After a year of only ordering for visiting family, we went back yesterday and loved every dish we ordered. The Crispy Duck, which we all shared, was a new dish for us--juicy, easy chew with none of the greasy or fattiness duck sometimes delivers. The sauce is a pleasant savory sauce with intermittent kicks of spice. The pot stickers, which had never lost their charm still hit the spot with their tasty balance of crispy edges and soft, center dough wrapped around flavor bursts of chicken and chopped veggies. The pot stickers are a good choice for every one and a special delight for those who need their food mild as was the case for most of my dinner mates. The Pineapple Rice and Silver Noodle Soup were also a hit with the "we need it mild" family, while I enjoyed the Spicy Beef Salad, which delivers on its name with more...
