The Lunchbox Bakery — Restaurant in Durham

AMAZING does not do this place justice. I just want to say the owner of this place is absolutely wonderful. She is a gem to talk to and a pleasure to work with. I traveled to Durham, NC from another state to host a surprise birthday celebration. The bakery I had reached out to during the planning phase was unresponsive. 48hrs before the celebration and still no plans for a cake. A good friend of mind steered me in the direction of The Lunchbox Bakery and with absolutely no hope that this was going to work out.. I was well on my way to getting a well baked, absolutely delicious cake that the birthday person and other guests loved. It was so delicious we were willing to make the drive to get another cake to take home.

Service - first class, needs and specifications were met even on short notice.

Cake - best pound cake ever - take it from me because I don't even eat cake that's not baked by my mama and I ATE this one.

You feel the warmth from the staff and there is so much love in the cakes you can taste it.

I ordered two dozen cookies with music notes from Lunchbox for my student recital back in the spring. Life threw me a major curveball when I was in a car accident and had to postpone the event until fall. When I told them I’d be back in touch later, I never expected anything special — but when I reached out again, they graciously provided the second batch at no charge!

And the cookies? Beyond adorable. I expected simple round sugar cookies with black notes on top, but they went way above and beyond — the cookies themselves were shaped like music notes! They were not only beautiful but absolutely delicious.

Chey is as beautiful on the inside as she is out, and working with her has been such a blessing. She even went out of her way to deliver the cookies despite my unclear timing (totally my fault!).

We selected Lunchbox Bakery to cater our daughter’s high school graduation dinner. We kept the menu simple. Baked spaghetti, house salad, garlic toast, and graduation hat cookies. Everything was delicious. My daughter is finicky about certain foods. However, she loved the meal. Chemaye was so lovely and very professional. A few of our guests wanted her contact information so they could call her for their next event. I forgot to take pictures BEFORE we devoured the meal, but I managed to snap a few before it was gone entirely. The salads were individually packed. We thought that was a great idea. One thing I would suggest is to have a couple of other salad dressing options. Maybe Italian. But that does not take away from anything. The graduation cookies were so good. Soft. The icing wasn't too sweet. It was a perfect balance. I wish I had ordered more than the two dozen. I highly recommend...
