This was a bad day to visit this restaurant. Restaurant opens at 11:30. We were the first ones there, and ordered around 11:45, but did not get out food until 12:40, without a word letting us know it was going to be a while... However, the server did come to ask if I wanted a different dressing because "the kitchen couldn't find Louie dressing" (I expressed that the whole purpose of our visit was to try their signature salad and to bring it over if they happened to find it, but in the meantime to bring me some limes) My husband ordered Fish and chips, which used to be delicious (we ordered those in August, on a previous visit) Well... the chips tasted old, like they were made the day before and reheated. The Cole slaw was already past it's prime... smelling more like sauerkraut than cole slaw and tasting even more acidic. The fish... was not cod, for sure, and was extremely hard, impossible to eat. My salad had 20% or so of the leaves rotten, but after realizing that, i tried to be careful and separate the bad ones from the good ones, which would have been impossible had they had the dressing. When it server finally came back to ask us how our food was and to refill it drinks, we told her our issues and she did offer to bring my husband a new piece of fish, which we thought was great. She did not say anything about the coleslaw, and just shrink her shoulders at the rotten salad greens. When she came back with the new piece of fish, she did bring me some of that mischievous salad dressing that had hidden earlier. You would think everything was great then, but no: the new fish was well cooked, but tasted rotten as well, and when I smelled it it had a characteristic ammonia smell. We paid in full. Server said was sorry, but this was not her usual shift. There was no manager (the normal procedure at any respectable restaurant in such a situation) There was no discount, or a card with 2x1 on next visit, not a free drink with next visit... nothing. She did say that they knew about the coleslaw and they had thrown it away (but she never offered to replace it) One of those days, I guess. But it's a pity, because it used to be a great little place with delicious food and very good service and in less than 2 months it went to the dogs...

Food is usually pretty good. Service is usually good too. We’ve been a few times (4 or 5). It’s hard to give a 5 star rating because the prices are kinda high for portion sizes compared to other restaurants even during the pandemic. Secondly -Who sells crab legs but doesn’t have the proper tools for opening them? They don’t have a nutcracker or a shell cracker, no crab forks (lobster forks). If you sell seafood you need to have the utensils for it. People pay $32 for a pound and you aren’t going to give them tools to eat it? Buy some more! The 🦀 crab by the pound if properly cooked doesn’t stick to the shell, they definitely need improvement in that area. I’m from Maine & outside of Boston so I’m used to good seafood so I may be critical. Edit: visited again in March. Last time they had changed what their scallop appetizer but didn’t change it on the menu. Today we ordered “pickle spears “ and got pickle chips. Our flounder was super tiny. Yes the owner replies with “prices have gone up” which I’m aware of. I’m referring to the fact that they are higher than others for the portion size. Also- if you aren’t going to provide customers with what is described on the menu then tell them when they order that you changed what you provide.

We came in a few weeks ago and had a great meal, the whole experience was 5 stars. We returned today and were disappointed. The bartender/waitress must have been having a bad day, she was very defensive when we discussed the proper way to make a favorite cocktail, she walked off and acted like I was stupid. We asked for an oyster appetizer first but all food came out at same time, the oysters were very small, we complained and were told that they can't controll the size. I disagree but if true they can control the quantity, maybe throw in a few extra to make up for the pewney size?? Our low country boil was not great, seemed old, like reheated from yesterday? The corn was definitely reheated, it was like mush. So now I don't know if I should give them a 3rd chance or not, maybe it was just an off day and our timing was bad being the first customer of the day? Regardless, here's my take, never serve left-owvers, bartender should work on social skills and continuing education as a mixologist. Give the customer a reasonable portion in consideration of the price.

Disappointment level 8.

Dirty table Menu pictures do not match what comes out: A. Menu shows plate of scallops (like 9); only 4 scallops came out. B. Menu shows big lobster sandwich; some lobster stuffed into a hotdog bun came out Portions are small: A. The 4 scallop appetizer was not only not what was pictured, but the scallops were the size of quarters. B. Fish and chips came out with two meager sized fish chunks (think large fish sticks) Food took forever. From the time we sat down to the time we were served was 50 minutes. Food was cold. You would think that you could get some hot food after the chef had 50 minutes to cook it... not so. Cold fries, cold lobster, warm (not hot) fried fish. Burger was decently heated. We told the server the fries were cold. She brought back “fresh”... essentially 2 degrees Fahrenheit warmer. Mmmmmmm... cold fries with more cold fries. Food just didn’t taste good: A. Lobster was salty and the bun was slathered with so much garlic that you could barely taste the lobster (except for the salt, of course). B. Burger was just a grey disk of meat... no extra effort to season it. Bun was decent. C. Scallops were tasteless. D. Fried fish was decent but nothing special. Overpriced.

We had really high hopes for this place. Sad.

Update: Owner corrected me. I was clearly in the wrong for being disappointed with this restaurant....

Just tried this place last night - This was suggested by a friend that recently moved to town. The area is very cute. We were able to find seating quickly despite being a party of 7 - We had a lovely server and she made sure we were taken care of (wish I could remember her name). Every food item we ordered was delicious - the only complaint I really have is that the fried foods (even though they were not burned) tasted like they were cooked in oil that had burned food in it. The seafood was nice and tender but the fried breading had this lingering flavor of something burned. I was able to tolerate it because of the quality of seafood - but I really wish I could have experienced it without that. The blackened scallops are delicious. The hangover fries come with tiny bits of bacon (thought it was ground beef at first because of the way it looked) and I topped it with the sharkbite shrimp. The black bean burger was lacking in flavor completely. 3 guests tried it and agreed. The crab dip was flavorful and the oysters were definitely worth the visit. Great oysters.

In response to the owner I mentioned it. Since it was every fried item we ordered, not just one - it seemed more like feedback for the kitchen, which is why I put it...
