AKIHI Bubble Tea — Restaurant in East Brunswick Township

Very disappointed with our experience. We were really looking forward to trying the bubble waffles here. There is no real selection to try this as we have seen at another bubble waffle place in central NJ. Only 2 flavors of ice cream and very disappointing selection of toppings. I will say the double chocolate waffle was very tasty. Where things go bad is the service. We heard nothing from the staff when our order was ready. We notice the manager speaking to the person at the front who was hanging out on her phone. He starts looking for the people who the order was complete for. Somehow they had a name associated to our order when we were never asked to provide a name at the kiosk. Though we never heard any name being called until the manager started trying to figure out who's order was waiting to be picked up. Our order had been ready for several minutes. I notice after we get our order finally, half melted, that a text came through after we finally received our ice cream waffles. The text definitely wasn't sent when the order was actually ready as I had been on my phone while waiting. We won't go back again. It definitely wasn't worth it. Overpriced and horrible service. No thank you. Get it together. It looks horrible to have staff out front on their phones rather than being attentive to customers. I've spent decades in the service industry and phone should never be allowed out on the floor. Too easy to lose business because customers...

Great drinks and all, but when it came to their system of their vip cards, they weren't at all specific about their timings, sure 8pm is their time but apparently the first time I went, I was the first one there and ordered on 8pm on the dot, out came my order with said card. I was the 5th person and almost missed it. So I am like, ok so it is based on after 8pm delivery time given how if there were people before me that got their card they must have ordered at 7:59 given i was the first order at 8pm Lo and behold today, I ordered ahead of time at 7:58 and out came my order at 8pm, now all of a sudden it is based on time of order, hell the last time they didn't even bother checking, now they check time of order?? Made me truly confused, I just had now spend 9 bucks on a drink I can't even enjoy anymore thanks whoever decided to judge wrong and please post up when it is based on order time or delivery. Makes EVERYTHING so...

I first discovered this bubble tea shop in Metuchen and had a delightful experience. Recently, my friend informed me of another shop with the same name. He highly recommended this place but confessed he wasn’t sure if it was the same place. We decided to try their classic original bubble milk tea to test the waters. When I asked about the type of tea they use, the cashier said they use Ceylon Black Tea with non-dairy creamer and Lactaid Milk.

I was thrilled to find it met my expectations. Next time, my husband and I will try some of their more innovative drinks, like the Big Bomb. They offer snacks at very reasonable prices, so I plan to come hungry and sample their crispy chicken.
