If I was still in high school I would have cried. I shed a tear anyways. East Brunswick needed this establishment, going there was a dining highlight of my year.
I am a huge Halal food fan, and especially in high school and college I would be eating at a Halal place at least once a week. So when I was driving to Wingstop and passed by this place, my friend and I knew we needed to make a stop.
I already knew the vibes were good when I saw several friend groups laughing away while eating, and when I was greeted by the man behind the counter with a big smile. My fish platter was about 11.99 if I recall, and it came with a free soda!
First of all, look at the size of this fish. For the price, the quality is unmatched. Flaky, crispy, juicy, tender. Immaculate. The salad it comes with has banana peppers and olives, a unique and interesting touch, but welcomed.
The server was inviting and asked me for my critique on the food, always a good sign. This was my response:
Fish, excellent, salad with the banana peppers is a good touch. The rice however, leaves more to be desired. Slightly overcooked, slightly clumpy, could use more flavor and seasoning, and a bit of oil could help prevent some of its clumping. Exact ratings: fish 8.8, salad 7.5, rice 5.8.
However if a few modifications are made to the rice, it will certainly be great. I knew immediately I had to get my friend a plate, and you can see his reaction. Another friend described it as opening a legendary loot box.
And the man behind the counter is a top tier employee, very attentive, personable, invested, and humble. He even took one of my orders as he was walking back from his office, I didn’t even need to go to the counter.
Come visit this place, worth traveling a...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Pakistani cuisine packed with flavor and heart, Khan Karahi & Grill in East Brunswick, NJ is an absolute must-try. From the moment you look at their menu, you know you’re in for something special.
Their Chicken Karahi selection is outstanding — I tried the Khan Special Karahi (Half) and it was bursting with bold spices and tender chicken, cooked to perfection in that classic rich gravy. The Shinwari Karahi is equally mouthwatering, especially if you’re a fan of that rustic, less-spicy, and meat-forward flavor.
For beef or goat lovers, the Shinwari Karahi options are next level. I highly recommend the Achari Gosht Karahi, which has just the right tangy kick from the pickling spices.
The rice dishes also shine. The Beef Kabuli Pulao was a standout with beautifully cooked basmati rice, tender beef, and just the right hint of sweetness from raisins — truly a meal on its own.
Prices are reasonable considering the portion sizes and quality, with half karahis starting around $18.99 for chicken and $27.99 for beef/goat. The full-size options are great for sharing or family-style dining.
Service is smooth, and they offer online ordering via Uber Eats, Grubhub, and DoorDash, which is a big plus. You can also call directly for pickup.
Whether you’re new to Pakistani food or a longtime fan, Khan Karahi & Grill delivers the real deal — rich flavors, hearty portions, and halal-certified dishes that hit the...
Read moreLast night, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Khan Karahi Restaurant, and I must say it was nothing short of incredible. From the moment I took my first bite, I felt like I was transported straight back to Pakistan. The authenticity of the flavors, the aroma, and the overall experience was like a beautiful reminder of home.
I tried their BBQ platter, Chapli Kabab, and their signature Goat Karahi — and every single item was phenomenal. The Goat Karahi, in particular, stole the show. Perfectly balanced spices, rich flavor, and that deep, authentic karahi taste that you only get back in Karachi — I was truly impressed. Being from Karachi myself, I can say with confidence that this place has absolutely nailed the original taste.
Even the naan, raita, and sides were outstanding. Everything was freshly prepared to order — nothing pre-cooked or reheated, which makes all the difference. You can genuinely taste the freshness in every dish. I don’t know how they do it, but they clearly take pride in delivering quality food made from scratch.
Khan Karahi is not just another restaurant — it’s an experience. If you’re looking for authentic Pakistani flavors with top-tier freshness and quality, this is the place. I will definitely be returning soon — and bringing friends along.
Highly...
