Los Bandoleros Tacos in East Brunswick is a small restaurant with a charming ambiance. This was my second time here. The first time, we got the Super birria tacos and the Bandoleros brisket, which are their specialties, and we were blown away. We loved it so much that we had to come back. On our second visit, we were seated at a table for four, but since it was just me and my friend, the server asked us to move to a smaller two-seat table to make room for a larger group, which we were happy to do. The smaller table was tucked in a corner and felt really tight, especially with how close the other tables were, and we were basically back to back with the people behind us. I had to shift my seat just to avoid being in someone else’s space. It was a Friday night, so I understood the crowd, but when the people behind us left and I asked the server if we could switch to their now-empty larger table because we were planning to order more food, I was told they had to save it for a larger group. That made sense at first, but then they gave it to another couple, also just two people, who didn’t even order much and kept leaving the table to go outside. That felt a bit unfair.
We ordered two appetizers: the elote and the nachos gigante with added birria. The elote was super flavorful, and I really liked the sauce they put on it. I wasn’t crazy about the nachos. The amount of meat was small, and it was all clumped in the middle and felt dry. I think it would have been better with more meat spread evenly and some of the birria sauce poured over it. For our main dishes, my friend got the shrimp tacos, which were just okay, and I tried the Bandoleros smash burger, which was honestly amazing and full of flavor. The fries were a letdown because they were too soft, and I prefer them crispy. We were too full for dessert, but I definitely want to come back to try it. Next time we will probably go on a weekday when it is...

Came to this little gem not knowing what to expect and holy crap, this place is the best Mexican fusion-Americano combo I’ve ever had and it’s not even close!
We ordered the Birria tacos which were outrageous!! Juicy, filled with soft, shredded beef and ratcheted up with the best birria sauce I’ve ever had. A nice crispy taco adds an upgrade of flavor. Zest it with a little lime and you’ve got the best taco you’ll ever taste.
We also ordered the Cubano which was insanely good. Savory, with Jalapeño pepper jack cheese, pickles, mustard and chipotle mayo. It’s made a little different with no ham, so you get the solid taste of the pulled, marinated pork which they put on the smoker for over 12 hours. Outrageous!!
The Guac and fresh ship starter was filled with tomato and lime with light onions, which brought and incredible flavor punch. The chips were a little thicker, which held the guac on and had the right balance of salt and crunch. Highly recommend you start with that.
The crunch wrap supreme with the shredded short rib was another flavor combo gem. Dripping with sauce, but still well balanced with tomato and a solid, semi crunchy wrap. Super good!!
The atmosphere was terrific, the wait was short for a Tuesday night, but expect a wait, because this place is worth the wait!
Dave was great, friendly and visited our table a couple of times to check in and follow up which is wait good ownership is all about.

Read moreIf you haven’t been here yet, what are you waiting for?! First off, the food is incredible! You can tell that they cook with love. Every bite leaves you speechless and wanting more. It’s just the right amount to make you satisfied and not overstuffed. The quality of the ingredients is top tier. Second, the service was out of this world. When we walked in they were packed and busy but the owner himself walked right to us and welcomed us. He said they have a slight wait, around 10 min, took our name and we waited outside. We got seated shortly after in less time than initially said. The owner showed us to our table and asked if it was our first time. If yes, he explains they’re a scratch kitchen and everything is made from scratch minus the fries. Trust me, you can tell by how good it all tastes. Our server, Danny, came by to take our order and also give us some more info on the type of place they are. Danny was awesome! He answered all of our questions, and super friendly! When we ordered their signature dessert, the Triple C, he waited just to see our reaction with the first bite. Smiles all around. So finally, the prices are really really fair. For the quality of food you’re getting and the amounts, it’s definitely worth every penny. The atmosphere is fantastic and everyone was leaving with smiles saying they can’t wait to come back. This place is a welcomed new addition to the area that I will frequent from now on. I wish them success and longevity because the quality of their work shows they care about the food they make and serve....
