I had a very frustrating experience at Koy Grill recently, and unfortunately, it’s one that left a sour impression. As a Muslim who was fasting for Ramadan, I called an hour ahead to make a reservation for a table for five. The person who answered the phone confirmed we could come in. However, when we arrived, we were told no one had taken our reservation, which was not true.
What made the situation worse was the interaction with the staff. When I mentioned we were fasting, the response I got was, “Yeah, and so is everyone else.” This came from the same person who was being rude, but the person who actually picked up our call was standing right behind her. We recognized his voice, and when we showed the rude staff member our call log, it clearly showed that we had called the correct number for the reservation. Still, she insisted she hadn’t received the call.
To make matters even worse, the staff member called her manager, who instructed her to send us to the Marlboro location, claiming it was only 10 minutes down the road. When we plugged the address into our GPS, it said it would take 25 minutes. This was especially frustrating since we only had about 10 minutes left before we needed to break our fast.
Instead of offering a sincere apology or showing any understanding, the staff member attempted to “fix” things by offering us free pudding, which felt like an attempt to shut us up. The lack of empathy and respect in how we were treated was truly disappointing. If the staff had just apologized or shown some kindness, it would have made all the difference, but instead, we were blamed for the mix-up and left without a resolution.
I hope Koy Grill takes the time to reassess how they handle customer service, especially when it comes to accommodating guests who have specific needs or circumstances. What could have been a great dining experience turned into an avoidable frustration due to poor communication and a lack of...
Read moreWe will be regularly visiting a PT in the area so we checked out ratings, reviews and menus for a number of restaurants around them. Koy Grill thoroughly lived up to their reviews. It's small but no 2 tables are on top of each other. Sarai was friendly, attentive and very pleasant. We didn't take photos because those on their website menu are identical to the dishes we had. For lunch today we ordered the Shepherds salad to which we added red onions & feta. The tomatoes were fresh, fully ripe and juicy. That is always important because they impart a totally different flavor from those that haven't matured. We're glad we got the large because we have leftovers for tonight. The crispy Feta phyllo rolls were paper thin, not greasy and loaded with hot feta. The Falafel on the falafel & hummus appetizer was crispy outside and tender inside. We regret not getting a to-go container of the green Chilli sauce...yum. Our smokey eggplant dip (baba ganoush) was creamy and delicious. Even though it comes with pita, we got an order of Turkish bread to shmear it on and it was perfect. We came home with doggy bags. After seeing others ordering the Red lentil soup we couldn't resist getting 2 orders to go. And Sarai laughed when she asked if we wanted anything else and we told her we weren't leaving without the Pistachio Baklava and Pistachio Gelato. We WILL be back!
We have been back a number of times and their cold dip plate with grape leaves is delicious as is the Red lentil soup. We have ordered food to go each time we've gone so we get to try more dishes. Their plates are plentiful and in addition they have lunch specials which look very filling...
Read moreDined at Koy Grill last night, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The ambience was incredibly warm, cozy, and welcoming. The new age lighting added a unique touch, casting a sense of warmth that enveloped the space like a familiar haven.
Our host, Denver, was outstanding. Despite a bustling restaurant, he remained attentive, calm, and highly professional throughout our visit. His service truly enhanced the overall dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. The house-made bread was a revelation. It was so soft and fresh; it felt like it had just come out of the oven and literally melted in my mouth. Pairing it with the lentil soup, complete with a fresh cut slice of lemon, was a scrumptious delight. Dipping the warm pita bread into the soup was simply heavenly.
The Lamb Adana Kebab, accompanied by a side helping of rice and yogurt dressing, transported me to the Mediterranean coast with every bite. The flavors were exquisite, and the meat was tender and flavorful.
Before the conclusion, I must mention the Kazandabi dessert, which was the perfect way to wrap up the meal. This caramelized light milk pudding, garnished with pistachios, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup, was a delightful and indulgent treat that left a lasting impression. It was the sweet finishing touch to an already exceptional dining experience at Koy Grill.
Overall, I can't recommend Koy Grill enough. If you happen to be in the area, it's definitely a restaurant worth trying. Just be sure to make a reservation, as it's no surprise that such a fantastic place tends to...
