First impressions of walking into the restaurant was five star...unfortunately it decreased as time went on. Very new and fresh decor and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the crab meat/mango salsa appetizer. Aside from the the crab being from a can and I even suspect the salsa was was not fresh made, the flavors were delicious. I ordered the half rack ribs with fresh chips and salad for sides. The portion size was huge (a good thing with ribs!)...can't even imagine the full rack. I am very picky about my ribs and I wasn't impressed with the sauce...just a basic BBQ yet the description made it sound like it was a unique creation of the restaurant. The ribs tasted like they were warmed up left-overs. I expected a "roadhouse" to specialize in their ribs but it was nothing special. Very disappointed. The chips were wonderful. They were spicy hot which is a good thing for me BUT they were sooo spicy that if you didn't have a tolerance, they would have been inedible. As I was describing my disappointment to my wife, she said her Honey-Dipt Chicken tasted the same. The chicken pieces tasted like they were cooked a couple days ago. The batter on the dipt chicken also had a lot of oil trapped in it. The restaurant was full and everyone was having a good time and seemed to enjoy their meals. While I probably won't return, I think it is good enough for you to go and have your...
Read moreStopped for lunch on Saturday June 8th with my mother and aunt. We all ordered the steak special. Started off OK but when the drinks were brought my aunts cream was put under the menu she was reading and was then spilt all over because she didn't know it was there. Took forever to get someone to bring paper napkins. The servers assistant seemed clueless. We all had the stuffed pepper soup. It was lukewarm and bland. Then came the 12oz sirloin special. $14.99 is a great price if it would have been good. All 3 came with cold baked potatoes. Took them forever to replace them. The server didn't really seem to want to be bothered. My mom is lactose intolerant and asked for margarine but was brought real butter with the 2nd potato which was still barely warm. The steaks were grisly and tough. Never had such a bad sirloin and they looked more like a much cheaper cut. I expected so much more from Rachel's Roadhouse. I have been to all 3 original restaurants in the past and was never disappointed. This location is not much better than the Ponderosa they replaced. No discount offered. No manager came to talk to us. I will never eat at this location again. After talking to other family and friends they all have had similar experiences. Bad food and several had rude servers. Ownership needs to make some changes in a...
Read moreGlad to see more Rachel's Roadhouses popping up. I've only ever been to the one in Mercer and I enjoyed it very much. This has kind of the same atmosphere, like a pub, but a lot brighter than the original. We need a Rachel's Roadhouse in Clarion! We stopped here on our way to Pittsburgh for lunch. I had a Reuben with fries and a cup of French onion soup. Everything was excellent. Usually I am hesitant to get a Reuben anywhere because sometimes the corned beef is not good, but I didn't need to worry about that here. It was delicious. The soup was lovely; rich, beefy broth with tender onions, nice sized croutons that held their shape and were not at all soggy, covered with a beautiful golden brown layer of cheese. For dessert I got a piece of their peanut butter pie, always a favorite. I highly recommend it. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, stopping by often to check on us. He even went the extra mile and brewed a fresh pot of coffee for us and brought us...
