Portugalo BBQ — Restaurant in East Hanover

I never like to leave bad reviews, but when a business goes out of their way to give me a wrong order, it is warranted. Having come here before, we decided to order our Mother's day lunch from here. We ordered a few dishes from their menu and 3 steaks. They left out one of the steak orders and I had to return back to the restaurant to pick it up!!! I called ahead to let them know they forgot one of my steaks and they said they would start working on it immediately. When I arrived I told the clerk by the cashier about the situation and what had happened, I showed them the steak order and the sides that were missing. He went to the back to confirm with the chef and I could hear them fighting about the sides. The order was for a steak, beans and veggies....when I checked the food in the car all they provided was a steak and sweet potato fries. At this point it was almost 1.5 hrs after my first pickup and I just left to try and salvage what was left of my mother's day luncheon. I get it, mistakes happen, but to deliberately go out of your way to give me a wrong order after you already messed up once is TERRIBLE...

Pathetic. Ordered the pork sandwich the first time and it was delicious. Ordered it a 2nd time and they screwed up the entire order and sent the wrong sandwiches. When I called they said well the guy who delivered it is the guy who took your order so complain to him and hung up. Of course the delivery driver was already gone. Gave them another chance today and they screwed it up again. Sandwich came and did not have the brown garlic gravy on it that is on the menu and that it had the first time. Called the store and they said we sent it in a container. The only thing in a container was a vinegar sauce of some sort. They responded with an attitude, what would you like me to do. Last time we will over go there and would never recommend...

Came here again for two days in a row after having a pleasant experience the first time. The owner is super friendly and makes sure you’re well taken care of. He enjoys what he makes and wants you to try it.

At first the prices may seem high but let me tell you, it’s all worth it. Each meal is probably enough to feed two, I had to force myself not to finish it all since I’d be bloated.

First day, I had the Skirt Steak special... it’s always perfectly cooked and served with delicious chimichirri sauce. The second day, I had the beef ribs, also deliciously cooked. Ate every bit of the meals I ordered and enjoyed it. The sides are also solid, I’ve had the rice, vegetables (highly recommend) and French fries.
