If I could give this store less than one star I would. Every time I’ve made the poor decision to enter this establishment I’ve left disappointed, if not angry. I just entered this evening to pick up a mobile order, and was promptly told that someone else had just shown up to get the order and was told it could not be made. Seems the store was out of the bread and a few other items. The staff person then proceeded to try and convince to just call DoorDash support and tell them the store couldn’t make the order, it wouldn’t be held against me. Furthermore the staff person knew this because she herself drives for Doordash. I could barely get it out that I wasn’t picking for Doordash, and what I wanted to do instead of cancel the order was contact then customer and ask if they wanted to substitute the items. The staff person rolled her eyes at me, and lazily walked to the back of the store and out of sight, where she proceeded to loudly make fun of me for “wanting to do things the right way”. Yes, well how dare I! Rude, unprofessional staff who think their job is somehow beneath them, and I’ve had similar experiences at this location before. At least I’ve finally learned the lesson not to go...
Read moreUsually Subways are hit or miss. This particular one was near MSU campus and was mainly set up for students. The staff was friendly but they lacked booster seats or those cheapo high chairs that most places have. I know many Subways have them and I was a little surprised that this one lacked them but then again, it is near a campus. So, for anyone with smaller kids, just a heads up. The main reason for the low score has to do with a take out order I did through the Subway App. I didn't realize that they partnered with Uber. The restaurant neglected to tell us they were out of black olives. One of the sandwiches was supposed to have avocado, and it didn't have any on the sandwich. I didn't realize this because I was too preoccupied with the missing subway sandwich that I ordered for myself and didn't get. I couldn't have it delivered so I had to ask someone to pick it up, even though I paid extra for delivery initially and Subway couldn't have it delivered. While the staff was polite, there was literally nothing to be done about the actual order itself after it was delivered instead of me literally having to pick the sandwich up. It was really frustrating. Anyways......
Read moreI had the most distressing experience at this Subway location (1100 Grand River, East Lansing). I came to pick up lunch for myself and two coworkers, but the manager—an irate, heavyset white woman—completely escalated a simple situation. She was hostile, rude, and unnecessarily aggressive when I calmly clarified a missing item from my order.
Despite remaining polite and patient, she yelled at me multiple times, falsely accused me of being a problem, and threatened to call the police over nothing. Feeling unsafe, I left before the police arrived because, as a Black woman, I feared for my life.
This behavior was discriminatory, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. I will never return to this location and urge Subway to address the racist and hostile culture here. Customers deserve respect,...
