East Café — Restaurant in East Lansing

My first visit to East Cafe in East Lansing, MI was fairly pleasant! Overall the food was great but it can be very INCONSISTENT, they have very POOR SERVICE & the one waitress was rather RUDE. Would I visit again? Yes it's not the worst food/place, my food was delicious but it's definitely not the best service. Here's a further in depth review on what I liked and disliked about the experience ~

Pros ~ Chicken Pad Thai was delicious, it's the best I've ever had! The grape bubble tea was fairly good but the tapioca pearls were a bit old and mushy for my liking. The one waitress was very kind! They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from too!

Cons ~ One waitress seemed to be short with me after I politely asked about a dish on the menu. Nobody every stopped by our table to see how we are enjoying our food and if we needed anything.

At literally every single restaurant I've been to, they ALWAYS serve the drinks first or at least along with your meal. Here they gradually brought our drinks out one by one every 10-20 minutes or so (we had 6 drinks). It took so long that our food came first and we were almost done eating!!! This is NOT OK!!

My uncle ordered frog legs which he had here before and he said they were amazing, so he ordered them again. Not only were they about 1/4 the size they used to be, but worse yet is that they were big time FREEZER BURNT!!! The taste was so disgusting and they offered no discount or coupon or anything to reimburse us for this horrible food. VERY INCONSISTENT with...

First time ordering take out and never will again.

I work at msu in the veterinary hospital. My mother ordered lunch for me all the way from back home in NY. Upon having my order delivered, the delivery person literally refused to leave despite the order being paid for until he was given a tip. He even went so far as to make the receptionist at my job call my mother to demand a tip.

This was off putting enough to decide to withdraw further business.

You have no right to harass people over a 4.00 tip that i would have handed in cash had the deliverer been patient and waited for me to return to the front desk from the lab.

Affordable prices and generous portions. Favorite place to go for cheap chinese food. I’d give it five stars if their bathroom wasn’t so disgusting. When I first walked in, I was hit with a stench of urine mixed with febreeze air freshener. I feel like instead of using actual cleaning supplies they just plugged in an automatic air freshener and called it good. Also the motion sensor light doesn’t work too well and the lights went out while I was mid-poop. Still their food is delicious and I will continue go here making sure to poop beforehand.
