If you haven’t been to El Sol de Mexico in East L.A., you’re seriously missing out. This spot brings something totally different to the table—a bold and creative fusion of Mexican and Japanese flavors, and somehow, it just works.
I came in not knowing what to expect, but left completely blown away. We started with the crispy rice topped with spicy tuna—SO good. Perfectly crunchy on the bottom, creamy and flavorful on top. Then came the kanpachi tostada, which was super refreshing with a nice citrusy kick. Every bite felt elevated but still comforting.
I also tried their short rib entrée with rice and kimchi, and man… melt-in-your-mouth tender. A perfect blend of sweet, savory, and spicy. You can tell the chef here puts serious thought into every dish.
The service was just as impressive. Super friendly staff, and the chef even came by to say hi and ask how we were enjoying everything. That personal touch goes a long way.
Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality. This isn’t your average Mexican spot—it’s something special. Definitely a must-try if you're a foodie looking for something...

We planned our evening around this visit, driving 2 hours in traffic! only to arrive at 4PM to find the doors locked and the interior completely dark. This total disregard for maintaining accurate business hours is a massive inconvenience. It wastes customers' time, gas, and completely derails dining plans. It suggests a lack of professionalism and basic respect for the community you serve. The owner who answered the phone was rude and sounded bothered by a simple call from Google. Be cautious of the area. Businesses have been spray painted by...
Read moreServer/Owner greeted us as soon as we walked in. Very nice person and family. This is a small business. It's also a little hidden gem in East Los Angeles! It's a Mexican/Japanese fusion Restaurant! Menu looks good. They also have Seafood like Ceviche, Salmon, Cocteles, Sushi and more. Before they bring out your order they serve you some amazingly delicious Brussel Sprouts!!! Yum! We ordered the Salmon with mashed potatoes and white rice. Salmon was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the Chilaquiles Rojos! They have 3 types of Chilaquiles! Overall we hope that if you are reading this review, you will give this place a try. We will definitely be back...
