Tastey's Gail's Southern Style Soul Food — Restaurant in East Orange

Omg please do not eat at this restaurant!!!! The food is disgusting 🤮 omg so I ordered smothered turkey chops baked Mac cabbage cuz they had no collards available which is what I wanted my bf got the same but with fried chicken his order was 22$ mines 30$ and 8$ for my daughters chicken tenders and fries ok the Mac and cheese was sour spoiled I didn't even touch the cabbage but looked unseasoned his chicken not done and my daughters tender nd fries were literally burnt I asked to substitute my Turkey chops she didn't want to then agreed and offered oxtails the oxtails were horrible also tasted sour my animals walked away from oh I forgot to mention the corn bread they offer for free with meals omg stale falling apart disgusting this restaurant do not deserve a star cashier was rude while on the phone they couldn't even provide me with a proper receipt and I paid 69$ after I sat down I notice they had drinks made sitting on counters they had ketchup in Lil lids pre made I thought to myself I hope there food isn't old or soiled that made me check the reviews I said hey I'll give them a try but baby I'm upset I'm home cooking after spending 70$ she didn't even give me my 1$ from my change that's crazy if it was good I would have tipped poor customer service poor food...

I wish I had taken photos of our dishes, for that I apologize. My partner and I went to Tasty’s to pick up our order, it was the first visit for both of us. He order the fried chicken with pickled beets and Mac and cheese. I ordered the special which was grilled lamb chops with potato salad and green beans. We also got 2 slices of sweet potato pie.

On the drive home I commented on how delicious everything smelled. Got home, plated our dinner, prayed and dug in. The first thing I noticed was my lamb was over cooked, I requested medium well and this was past well done. The second thing I noticed was the abundance of salt. So much salt that after 3 bites, I couldn’t eat anymore of it. I detest wasting food BUT this had to go in the trash. Thankfully my partner had enough fried chicken to share with me. It was good…crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The pickled beets and potato salad were really good followed by the Mac and cheese. Sweet potato pie was also good.

I called the restaurant to let them k ow because I didn’t want to leave a negative review but I’m not sure they could clearly hear me. I couldn’t clearly hear them so I wonder what the caller experience would have been trying to place an order. Don’t know if I’ll go back but if I did, lamb won’t...

I used to walk my dog there and always had a pleasant experience with the owner. On Sunday I went there..ordered $60 worth of food then asked if I could add chicken wings to my chicken wing platter for an extra cost...the waitress went to ask the owner and the owner said the wing meal couldn’t be added to. As the waitress was politely explaining that nothing could be added another rude waitress walked up behind her and in front of my face said “don’t explain anything to her” and started mumbling under her breath and snapping her neck with attitude. The original waitress was appalled and so was I. The disrespect and lack of hospitality forced me to cancel my order and vow to never return. People always say support black business’..until the nasty attitude runs u out the door. This was my spot..but out of dignity for myself I will not return to where I am not respected. That waitress should have been immediately reprimanded...
