¡Please read! ¡VERY DISAPPOINTED! This place changed my life; the first time I had it. It was wonderful. It was the highlight of my day visits in Harrisburg a month ago. HOWEVER; Just recently (yesterday) I went with my brother to show him how awesome this place, WAS. Yesterday I’ve never been more disappointed with a restaurant in my life. I believe whole heartedly, that any artist puts energy into what they’re making; painting, drawing, even making food. The lady at the register was so friendly, but everything else was a disappointment for me; as it also was for my brother. I was so excited to show him this place and how good it was. Except when I went to eat my food the chicken was cold, overdone, and dry. My brother told me that his meat also was cold and didn’t taste fresh; he got shrimp and scallops… WHO EATS NOT FRESH SEAFOOD?! THAT CAN MAKE SOMEONE SICK!!!!!!!! FOOD POISONING. The salmon tasted like it had been sitting out for hours; the proteins I chose tasted like they were just heated up in a microwave after being old to begin with. I felt sick even trying to eat it. I had to throw it away. I hate wasting food but this was not good to eat.
Wrong: The meat was gross(not fresh) The lotus chips were filled with grease and also not fresh. THEN I FOUND A HAIR IN MY FOOD. It was over; I knew there was a bad energy about it. I prayed over the food before eating, praying God would bless it. However it was cursed. There was bad energy in my bowl and I couldn’t eat it. I knew I would be putting bad energy into my body.. and that’s no good for anyone. I won’t be going back there for a long time… I used to love it here. Thoroughly disappointed. (Ps. I have curly blonde hair; so it definitely was...
Read moreThe building is new. Its setup and design are current and stylish, the ambiance very inviting. I especially loved the faux wood floor. Too bad COVID-19 is in effect; otherwise, dining in would only enhance the experience even more.
Upon entering, we were a bit confused if it only takes online order. But once we wandered further inside by the kiosk, we were happy to see the "Walk-In" option on the screen. As a matter of fact, if you're paying cash, there's even a paper form for you to fill out your order.
It's the first time we've ever ordered a poke bowl from a kiosk. We found that it made ordering poke bowls a lot easier! Tap anything you like on the screen row by row, insert your credit card, sign on the screen, and you're done. No need to ask what's what as everything was spelled out. No more looking into the staff's eyes and feel judged as you customize your bowl. And we didn't feel as rushed when we made our selections.
Because of the pandemic, I skipped the raw fish and opted for steak, with Sriracha-Aioli dressing. They really did not skimp on ingredients. I had bite after bite of endless steak - at least that was how it felt like. I also added avocado for $1 more. Half of a hard boiled egg was a welcomed change from what I was used to. The mango in my bowl was perfectly ripe and sweet. The furikake was a perfect rice seasoning while masago roe added a tantalizing sensation to the bite. Simply an explosion of healthful flavors and texture for those who have never tried a poke bowl. The serving was big, none of us could finish in one setting. I'd give a 5 stars rating without...
Read moreI stopped at Hawaii Poke just because I had no clue what it was and I wanted to try something new. It turned out to be a fresh and pleasant surprise. I walked up tot he cash register and the cashier picked me out as a noob immediately. He kindly recommended I get a paper to make my selections and explained how many meats, toppings I could get and how many he recommends before it just gets overwhelming. I returned to pick up a paper and it all made sense. I handed in my selection, trying some new flavors I don't typically combine. It wasn't long until they called my number and I was on my way to trying a new burst of flavors. Wow! It really was an interesting crossroads of differing flavors to take it from a salad into a ride through a flavor garden. The smoked salmon was excellent, the spicy shrimp had a little zip as expected but were a touch mushy for my preference. I enjoyed the mango, cucumbers, carrots and red cabbage over rice but what is in those sweetened mushrooms? They kept me coming back for more after every bite. Ingredients were fresh, it was a very pleasant first trip into a new restaurant. I would return here in a heartbeat, I just don't live very close to one and I don't come this way often. From my first step in the door to my last bite, which I couldn't quite finish because of a generous portion, I enjoyed every step along the way. If you're looking for a salad type meal that's well above an average salad, I highly recommend Hawaii Poke. I'll be back, not sure when, but...
