It pains me to have to write this review, but my recent visit was nothing short of disappointing. I came in for the first time after seeing an ad, and my anticipation was high. I walked in with a party of three, and while we were initially greeted and seated promptly, things quickly went downhill.
The waitress took the drink order for the smallest member of our group but didn’t ask the two adults what we wanted. We waited for 15 minutes before being approached again to take our drink orders and see if we were ready to order food. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot—we were sweating—and when we asked about the AC, we were told that the staff was also hot.
We placed our orders: I started with an appetizer and bottomless mimosas, and my sister ordered for herself and her child. Once the food came out, things slowly started getting worse. We were ignored when we requested help, and the waitstaff gave us rude stares. I asked for another round of mimosas and ordered French toast, an omelette, and grits with bacon. The waitress returned to tell me they were out of French toast. Disappointed but still hungry, I accepted the rest of the order.
When the food arrived, it was absolutely disgusting. No amount of salt, pepper, or sugar could make it edible. We tried to get the waitress’s attention, but we were ignored again to the point where I had to walk to the bar to remind her of the mimosas that were never brought and to express how awful the food was. She asked if I wanted a refund, and I instead requested two orders of shrimp.
The cook then started glaring at me through the kitchen window after hearing my complaint, which made me even more uncomfortable. I prayed that nothing was done to my food out of spite. The waitress eventually brought the shrimp and even brought shots to celebrate my sister’s birthday, but by then, the damage was done.
When I received the bill, I was shocked to see that gratuity had already been added—an extra $20—on top of the $10 tip I left, bringing the total to $155. I wasn’t happy, but I wasn’t mad either; at least I got to do something for myself.
However, the worst part came after I left. From the moment I got home and for the next two days, I was extremely sick—projectile vomiting and other symptoms. This experience was downright horrible and disgusting, and I wouldn’t wish...
Read moreI was so excited about visiting this restaurant. A few people recommended it since I was in the area. I made a reservation and called the restaurant ahead of time. As a diabetic, I've learned to do this to ensure I'm not caught off guard by additional wait times. Well, when I arrived prior to reservation time, I was told they had closed the kitchen to give them time to catch up. So, YUP, I waited after being assured I was next to be seated. After about 20 extra minutes, I noticed two tables being sat, so I went to the hostess. She stated she was just about to come get me. OKAY, she then takes me to a seat near the kitchen area. I asked for seating near the back. She told me I couldn't sit there because that table was for four people. I silently looked around as the other four tops had two people. Thereafter, she hastily grabbed the menus and said, "Fine, you can sit there," and walked off. Immediately, when the server came, I told him I was diabetic and really needed to eat, so we placed our food order. We waited an additional 40 minutes, no food as I watched people AFTER us order and get their food. When I brought it to their attention, a woman (manager I assume) came and basically said, I see your ticket has been up 42 minutes, but it is a Saturday and we're busy...we make everything fresh and in order," which couldn't be the case as noted by those arriving after me. At that moment, my guest and I were taken aback and disappointed. All my joy and positive anticipation dissipated. We simply wanted to get our food and just leave! Honestly, when our basic breakfast arrived about 5 minutes later, we were underwhelmed. I took enough bites to silence my Dexcom since I had dropped into the low 40's (critical). As a business owner and intentional supporter of local, community-based restaurants, I really hate that this was my experience. NOTE: There was a $5.58 reduction of my tab, which was equal to the...
Read moreFirst let me say everyone was very nice when we walked in.👏👏👏 The host was friendly and professional and our server was nice and accommodating☺️.
The reason for the low score is the overall service from the kitchen 👎. The wait time for the food was long and they didn’t have lots of customers. My eggs I asked for sunny side up (which I eat all the time ) was way under cooked . The interesting part was the white part was fried extra hard but the yolk was not properly cooked it was very raw (like fresh cracked eggs). The grits tasted like some type of broth was added. It was a very overpowering flavor. You would think because of the name you would be getting some type delicious fluffy biscuit but instead you get a beignet type of biscuit 🤦🏽♀️The server was kind enough to have the eggs redone. This time I asked for them medium over easy but what I received was basically sunny side flipped over😬😳. I can’t make this up anywho I ordered more potatoes(absolutely delicious 😋 )when I told her about my original eggs. The eggs came out first and it was taking forever for the side potatoes to come and my niece order biscuits that never came . I just said to cancel the order.
I was so excited to support this business but I felt like it was an epic fail. I may try again in a few months. My feedback is that they have to get the timing right on the food and find someone who knows how to make basic eggs. Again the server was great but it ruins the entire experience if the kitchen doesn’t have their timing and skills together.
My advise is give this restaurant some more time. I tried to ”risk it for the biscuit “but it wasn’t worth the...
