This place is decent; considering the price and portion size, it's quite affordable. It falls into the category of satisfying and hearty rather than refined Japanese cuisine.

The thick slices of sashimi are a highlight, with 15 pieces plus a small roll, priced at $35. The salmon and mackerel (the whitest one) are particularly delicious, especially the tender and fatty salmon. Unfortunately, the yellowtail and yellowtail are a bit disappointing in texture. I ended up not finishing those two, but the tuna exceeded my expectations, so I polished it off.

The salad is okay, and the miso soup has a mild flavor. As for the iced water, it has a strong mineral taste, and even adding lemon slices doesn't quite mask it. Odd, isn't it?

Oh, and the accompanying rice is regular white rice, not vinegar-seasoned rice. The grains are well-cooked and distinct, making it a tasty bowl of rice. 🍚

Considering the price, I'd give it...

The service was amazing. You can immediately tell that Toro's staff operates as a cohesive team to serve its customers. It's the type of service no one expects from a restaurant in a strip mall.

Unfortunately, the quality of Toro's service did not match the quality of its food. I orded a restaurant favorite, the Spicy Tuna Crunch, which was decent but it's taste and texture was overwhelmed by too much sauce. Ultimately, I was put off by the Sushi Sampler, that was prepared with tuna, salmon, albacore, and shrimp. I have no complaints about the fish itself, but instead the amount of wasabi in the sushi. I felt the burn through my nostrils.

Perhaps Toro's will continue to specialize in cooked sushi. And for now as much as I would like to enjoy its team's service once again, sadly, I will not be seeing...

A bit of a late post- I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived at this charming little sushi joint, but I was pleasantly surprised! We arrived during happy hour, which is conveniently offered most of the day from Monday to Thursday and even longer on weekends. Just in time at 6:30 PM, we took advantage of the great timing. We ordered six rolls along with a large Sapporo: The Red Dragon, Rainbow, Jalapeno, Spicy Tuna, Crunchy Salmon, and OMG rolls. My favorites were definitely the Rainbow, OMG, and Red Dragon. Each roll was delicious, and the extensive menu means I’ll definitely be back to try even more rolls. Missing star because the other rolls were just mehhh like not good at all and the...

This will be my second time visiting this restaurant. I was hoping the 2nd time around the food and portion would be better than the first visit. Considering this would be the “ hibachi” type of food nearest our community. The food is tasty. I’m More than disappointed due to the portion size being less than average. You pay 30+ dollars to receive less than a scoop of plain white rice, which is the cheapest item in my entree. The meat? Let’s not talk about that portion size. I’m literally having to go home and add more rice to my plate to have a full portion for dinner. I wonder what the happy hour portion food is like..maybe I should have went this route. Will not be returning for this reason.
