2022-10 update: Still a great place for food, and service are excellent. We had lunch today that included a chef salad, loaded chez fries, and a hamburger steak with fried okra and squash casserole. Parking is readily available. Nice atmosphere and a very quaint bar at the entrance.
2020 review: Great restaurant. Although itās located in a shopping center you would never know it looking out with the trellis patio, hanging plants and trees. The modern farmhouse feel inside feels more like a resort. Food was southern and delicious. I had a Hamburger steak topped with onions and gravy, mashed potato casserole green beans and a piece of the best corn bread I have had. My wife had a sour dough grilled cheese with and the same mashed potatoes casserole. We finished by sharing a piece of buttermilk pie. Separate room for 24 and a small wine and beer bar complete the restaurant. Service was outstanding.
2018-7 Update. Still great food, service and atmosphere. Lunches will run you a little more than $10. My 1/2 rack of ribs ($16) was āfall off the boneā tender.
2020-2 Update. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 9-11am. Menu is limited but supplement with specials on a chalkboard at the entrance. All items are excellent as is the service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt know what happened to this place but it used to be the best southern comfort food. We just spent $18 for a 4 oz piece of salmon and $30 for what I thought was ribeye but was actually prime rib. The prime rib tasted like dirt, or pavement out front. I took 1 bite and then passed it on and couldnāt get anyone else at the table to eat it. So 3 bites off of a piece of prime rib which no one offered to refund. Canāt complain about the spinach dip or shrimp which were appetizers and was by far the best out of our meal. But at least we know now. I myself am a business owner and understand the importance of customer service. Typically when you complain or send back your plate not eaten the waiter picks up on it and gets the owner or manager. Our waiter was clearly not concerned on our thoughts of the food or not being made happy before we left. We still left him a 20% tip. We arenāt big complainers and this is my first negative review. This place used to be one of our favorites. Their prices went up and now the food is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was mediocre, there was never even an offer to refill drinks. It took 3 of us to get the waitress to understand one in our party wanted to order dessert. The waitress spoke in a somewhat condescending tone to the oldest member of our group, as if being older equaled being sap-headed.
Our group ordered a variety of food which was prepared fairly quickly. The Sunrise Burger was reported as very good. The Blackened Salmon Salad was disappointing, with no flavor really to the salmon. However, the salad greens were very fresh and pleasing. Several got chicken strips and said they were okay. Several said the coleslaw was very good.
I sincerely hope that someone just forgot to add ingredients to the peach cobbler. The breading would have had more flavor if it had been white loaf bread. The peaches were not good, either. As a staple Southern dessert, it was horrible.
Not a place Iād go out of the way to...
