Hong Xin Garden — Restaurant in Ebensburg

The tall bald asian man is so unpleasant, extremely unprofessional. I ordered a Happy Family with white rice. I have ordered this from many other places and not one time was there ever huge mushrooms in it. Highly allergic to them, I called to see if I could either have it re-made or exchanged for something else and id pay the difference or let them keep the difference if it was less. The lady told me to come back and she would fix it. The moment i walked in the man was yelling and just pure nasty to me. uhm hello excuse me, i dont want anything from your restaurant.. i want my money back now. What happened? This place used to a jewel in Ebensburg. The food was fresh and flavorful. But just ordered take out today and have to honestly say it was horrible! The Generals chicken was tough and actually dry inside, like the chicken had been sitting in a freezer way to long. The pork fried wontons which used to explode with the pork filling, was tasteless. Also, they weren't filled with pork. If you examine the wonton closely you will notice a small amount of meat filling. Then finally, the hot and sour soup. That was actually somewhat hideous. It's basically soy sauce with whole mushrooms. I am in the middle between Altoona and Ebensburg so I've tried most if not all the chinese restaurants. Unfortunately, this is in the bottom three now....

Overall this was fairly disappointing. I suppose my expectations were too high since I come from a town with several Chinese joints that actually have to compete. Firstly, they are very slow. We stood there while they made our food, and it did not seem busy. They just move at a snail's pace. They told us 25 minutes, which already seemed long, but it ended up being 40. And the food was just not great. The egg drop soup was very gelatinous in texture; the sesame chicken was hard, dry, and tough (I'm not the only reviewer who said this); and the fried rice was dry and bland.
